The Details

Body Type: Sean Cassidy is a tall man with strawberry blond hair usually worn short and spikey despite his age. He usually has a two day shadow of stubble on his chin from not shaving. He bares a scar along his left cheek in the form of a sloped gash from a 'lucky' riccochet, in that it only scarred his cheek and didn't kill him. That's how he looks at it. Sean has soft blue eyes that tend to swim in their gaze as oppose 'to pierce'.

Wardrobe: Sean's wardrobe is mostly simple clothes. Button down loose shirts, light colored turtlenecks for colder weather. Boots for common for his footwear. He regularly wears red tinted thin sunglasses.

Costume: As the 'self-defense' instructor for the Mass, Sean Cassidy has his own outfit. Black body armor with fold out red wings to allow him to ride his sonic pulses. The left breast of the armor is the slanted M on the shield logo of the school. A pull over mask across his nose, eyes, and hair comes up and over his head but leaves his mouth bare when he needs to hide his identity.

Posture: Sean is a tall muscular fellow who stands with a bit of soldier's pride but smeared with a friendly warm smile and a twinkle in his eyes. Whenever Sean feels a bit turned off by the floppish nature of his surroundings he rubbed his right eye before slicking back his hair.

Personality: Sean Cassidy is a law and order individual with a high respect for what's right and wrong. That said, he respects the law but understands the difference between the rule of law and the rule by law. While his upbringing gave Sean a high respect for the law it also told him that freedom must come with the law to create justice or you just have the rule by law.

Sean worked in Interpol as an open mutant and hasn't encountered the prejudice others have though is aware that his is a special case. That being said, Sean sees the whole mutant-human thing as a red herring, in his world view there are only two types of people; the good and the bad. He may have hung up his badge for the duties at the Mass but he hasn't stopped believing that its his job to sort out which is which.

Sean's greatest tragedy was the death of his wife and daughter. Or so he thinks. He has never forgiven himself even for the fact he was away when it happened... and away too often. As a result, he has never pursued another relationship. Almost 20 years later unable to accept the terms of the situation.

Sean blames Tom, even before himself, for the death of his wife and daughter. Now there has always been a rift between the cousins. Jealousy, mistrust, and differing ethics have shaped and broken the relationship. Maeve's death was the final draw for Sean and the two have been adversaries ever since.

Sean met Emma Frost when she was recruiting for her school. While the beautiful telepathic heiress is capable of turning his head, Sean isn't yet inclined to turn his back on her. Its not that she has given him reason to not trust her but Sean is somewhat concerned about her objectives. Sean also has to watch his thoughts around Emma, because his thoughts about her are very unprofessional... if positive.

Powers and Abilities

Genetic Mutation:

• Audiokinesis: Sean possesses the ability to emit and control sonic vibrations from his own body.
  
• Sound Immunity: Sean's final passive ability is present for only one reason, he is immune to his own powers effects.
  
• Superhuman Vocal Stamina: possesses superhuman stamina in his lungs, throat, and vocal cords.

Weaknesses:

• Equilibrium- Sean's powers are effected by his own equilbrium, an inner ear infection can effectively render him powerless or his powers impaired.
  
• Vocal Cord Fatigue- Even with his vocal cords having stamina based mutation, Sean's powers can be muted by having his vocal cords strained.
  
• Hyper-kinetic Effect- Like most mutants, Sean's powers are subject to his emotions with high emotions triggering the same fight-flight mechanic that triggered his powers in the first place.

Mastery:

• Sonic Scream: The first and most prominent manifestation of Sean's powers is his sonic scream which emits a concussive wave of sound from his mouth capable of shattering glass, slamming a human being about, and if focused causing significant damage to any form of masonry or concrete wall not reinforced with metal. His scream has less effect on those things that can flex to the vibrations, trees, wooden structures, or metal will resist his assault.
  
• Sonic Flight: With the use of an apparatus and focusing his sound waves under him, Sean can use his powers to achieve some measure of liftoff and gliding. He can only travel about 35 mph.
  
• Sonar: One of Sean's most useful and used techniques. He developed it for his work, every police officer would love to have eyes in the back of their head. Sean emits an inaudible burst of sound in the ultra frenquency range which he can use to ping out his surroundings, not to great detail, but enough to know when there is something behind him that wasn't there a moment ago.
  
• Vocal Disorientation: Sean can use his voice to deliver a burst of sound that will produce an unbalance in the inner ear of his target. This effect can vary from loss of balance, nausea, brief loss of focus, or unconsciousness. He hasn't reached the point where he can precisely predict the effect person to person and feels any incapaciation can turn a benefit.
  
• Forcefield: By focusing his sonic scream into a resonating forcefield, Sean can protect himself from projectile attacks.

Learned Abilities:

• Cooking: Sean loves Irish homecooking and does alot of his own as well.
  
• Marksmanship: Sean is a 99.5% shooter with a variety of pistols and sub-machineguns.
  
• Small Unit Tactics: Trained as a SWAT specialist in Interpol.

The History

Sean Cassidy was born as the heir of Cassidy Keep and a herditary fortune that his father had bolstered with agriculture interests in the surrounding area. Sean's childhood was noted with his life with Tom, his cousin. The two were very competitive and close at the same time. As they grew up they discovered that they were different.

Sean manifested the ability to scream with such force that he could sunder masonry. Sean's mutant powers manifested alongside his cousin's and the two worked together to learn how to use their abilities. As a result of this, the two were able to learn how to master their abilities.

Sean's life always had a strong sense of justice and law. He believed in the law even early in life and dreamed of being some kind of super cop. So after secondary schooling, it was only natural for Sean to join the Dublin police academy. Pursuing both his police work and his university entry coursework.

While in the Dublin Police Department, Sean met and married Maeve Rouke. The two were young couple and soon discovered that Maeve was pregnant. Things were going well, and Sean's mutant powers soon attracted the attention of Interpol who wanted him as one of their agents; knowing that some mutants would use their powers criminally and wished to fight fire with fire. Sean agreed, seeing the need.

However, this had an unforeseen effect. Sean was forced to leave his pregnant wife and go on long missions. During one of those missions, Theresa was born. Tom watched over his cousin's family to make sure they stayed safe while Sean was away and out of contact. Then tragedy struck.

Maeve was killed in an IRA bombing and Tom was left to care for Theresa. When Sean returned, Tom told him of Maeve's death. Before Tom could consul his cousin with the life and health of his daughter, Sean lashed out with his powers and nearly crippled Tom. He flew away with his sonic powers, unaware that it was HIS anger that had destroyed his family most of all.

Sean, unable to deal with his loss, left Interpol later that year and traveled to New York. There he joined the NYPD and spent the next decade doing nothing but being a scrub in a NY Blue. Emma Frost perhaps saved his life.

She was a young woman, rich beyond imagination, and a full feature telepath. She located Sean and explained what she was doing. A school for mutants to teach them to be the best of the world in the field of their choice. Politics, business, science... she was poaching the best teachers from America and Europe for her school... but mutants needed more... they needed someone to teach them how to use their powers. Sean was a mutant with both traditional and mutant power combat experience... she wanted him to be her right hand at the school. To teach her students 'self-defense'. Sean, lost and bitter, jumped on the option.

He has been helping and working for Emma Frost and the Massachusetts Academy ever since.

All schools have tests.
