This is first and foremost a school. The Basics
Name: Jean Elaine Grey Codename: Marvel Girl Type of Character: Canon Species: Mutant Play-by or Voice Actor: Alison Sudol Age: 25 Gender: Female Sexual Preference: Straight Height: 5'7 Weight: 117lbs
Faction: X-men School Year: In her last year of medical school Occupation: Medical Student/Literature Teacher at Xavier's
Tough break Scott, doing the school play with pale gloomy and grumpy over there. The Details
Body Type: Jean has a small frame. Despite her small frame Jean has curves in all the right places and has an hourglass figure. She has very pretty and symmetrical face. She has a soft squared jaw and big doe shape green eyes.
Wardrobe:Jean has an eye for fashion and enjoys throwing amazing outfits together. A lot of the things she use to wear used to be made by hand by her but since starting Med School she hasn’t have time to make her own clothes but still does her best to throw together original outfit from off the racks. She loves short skirts and high heel boots. Since starting the last year of medical school Jean has been doing her best to make sure that her outfits are a bit more professional looking but some how short skirts and go-go boots still find their way into her wardrobe.
Her red hair is usually wore long with bangs and pulled back into ponytail to keep it out of her face when she is working. She wears a lot of green and yellow for it goes well with her hair. With most of her outfit she wears a gold pendent that was given to her by Scott when she graduated from the school, the pendent is a small gold phoenix with it wings spread wide on a gold chain.
Costume: Jean since she first started training as an X-Man has went through a lot of uniforms. Her current uniform is a dark blue body suit with a thick gold stripe going down her sides. Over the bodysuit she wears gold gloves that come to mid-forearm, gold boots that go to mid- thigh and gold belt. On her belt she has a circular belt buckle that has a red ’X’ on black. Her belt has pouches and compartment that she keeps emergency medical supplies, bandages and a collapse visor (for just in case).
Posture: Jean has perfect posture. The way she holds herself and moves suggested that she knows she is perfect and that everyone is watching and that they should be watching. She always holds her head high with pride, so times so high it seems like she looking down her nose at them. She does seem to really frown; her frown is much more of a pout. Though, a knowing little smirk tends to be on her face more than a pout. When angered she tend to tap her foot and put her hands on her hips and smile. She tends to smile when she is about to cry, believing if she can still smile things can’t be that bad. When nervous she tends to pace and play with her necklace.
Personality: : Jean believes in living by example. She believes you always do your best for that is how you make the world a better place. She wants to be a shiny example for mutants so that normal humans will know how much good a mutant can be. If she can do a shiny beacon maybe they would be hope that one day all mutants will be accepted.
The young redhead by nature is a people pleaser. She wants to be everything to everyone. The fact she can hear whatever anyone thinks of her makes her even more determined to make them think the best of her. Her desire to please people and the belief of living by example tends to make it where she stretches herself a bit thin and is a bit of overachiever. Jean has never been in a contest, competition or even on a sports team that didn’t come in first. For her failure is just not possible. Jean’s older sister Sara used to tease her that she had more awards, ribbons and trophies than a show dog and which Jean would respond with a smirk that she was just jealous.
Her desire to please her father is the reason she went pre-med and on to medical school when all she wanted to do was study literature at the local college with Scott and eventually get married and have his children. Jean put her desire of for a simple life of being a happy homemaker back for her father wanted her to be a doctor for she didn’t want to disappoint him. Jean return to the school was also brought on by this trait for Xavier wanted her to teach at the school so rather than full focusing on her last year of med school she decided she was going to continue out her last year of school while teaching literature at the school on the side.
Jean doesn’t believe in being idle. She believes in always being productive and always doing something. Her determine to get as much done as possible tend to make it where she is running herself ragged but she knows with work comes some form of relaxation. You need to recharge you batteries to be able to take up new challenges. She enjoys cooking or sewing to relax but doesn’t mind every now and again letting her hair down and go clubbing and having a night on the town.
Jean is stubborn. She gets angry with herself when her work and effort doesn’t meet with her own high standards. The idea of second best or losing leaves a bad taste in the telepath’s mouth. Her high standards she does not just apply to herself but to those she hold close to her. She it still slightly angry with one Scott Summers for not applying himself more and ‘settling’ for community college when she believed he could do so much more with himself. When she sees someone doing something wrong or going down the wrong path she feels that it is her duty to correct them and push them towards where they need to be.
Her stubbornness extends to more than her own pursuit of perfection in herself and those close to her. When Jean finds out someone doesn’t like her she stubbornly can’t let go of it. The idea of someone not liking her just rubs her the wrong way and she can’t let go of it. She feels the need to some how ‘correct’ them and make them like her with the focus of an angry bull. This tenacity in most cases tends to make things worse rather than better.
Even though Jean does her best to always be happy and perfect sometimes her temper get the better of her. She occasionally has outbursts of uncontrollable rage from accumulated stress, frustration and irritation. She does her best to keeps her emotions under control for with her powers her emotions can lead to danger for those around her. Sometimes her negative feelings and anger erupts like a volcano of pure emotions that can be hard for Jean to know how to cope. With her temper she is know to be a bit jealous and possessive with those close to her.
Jean sees Professor Xavier as her second father and everyone at the school as her second family. She wants Xavier to be proud of her and want to help assure his dream comes true. In many ways, she believes she is actually closer to Xavier and the people at the school than her real family for they have a bond deeper than blood.
She likes to make everyone that comes to the school to feel comfortable and at home. Which usually means they receive a welcome gift basket of muffins and cookies with some little knick-knack thing from her own collection of things with in a day of coming to the school. She does her best to be supportive to all new comers for she knows to most the school is only home they have.

So... got any cool powers? Powers and Abilities
Genetic Mutation: Jean is an Omega level psion. With the power of her mind is able to both read a person inner most thoughts through telepathy and move objects through telekinesis. Beyond her telepathy and telekinesis Jean has the ability to focus psionic energy into a psionic force bolts that does no physical damage but push a person away from her and effecting the person she pushes away mind causing them pain or to be render unconscious. Through her psionic abilities she can project her astral form from her physical body onto the astral plane or the mental plane. In the mental plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrals through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
Through telepathy Jean can communicate directly to another persons mind. She can’t only communicate with a person mind but influence and control them. With her telepathy she can not only control a person thoughts but take control of people's natural bodily functions and senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, taste, or even mutant powers or make it where a person can no longer control basic function on their own. Telepathic she can cloak herself, masking her presence from being detected by others. Her abilities can at times go undetected or be counteracted by other more powerful telepaths depending on their level of skill in using their own psionic abilities. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well. With her telepathy she can not just read others thoughts but memories, also. One of the side effect of her telepathy is that she is gifted with total recall meaning she remembers everything she has ever seen and experienced.
With her telekinesis Jean can move objects with her mind. She can make objects levitate, control their molecular structure and disintegrate them. Using her telekinesis focus on the molecule level Jean can generate burst of heat and light. She can telekinetically lift ton of matter at once, and has learned to use her power both aggressively and defensively, as blasts of focused telekinetic force or defensive shields strong enough to withstand out of scale ballistic impacts. She can manifest a fiery aura offensively as well as thermal heat blasts by using her telekinetic powers to excite the air molecules around her into focused combustion that produce heat and light in her immediate area.
Weaknesses: Jean has been training with her powers since she was ten. She has refined her powers over the years but is constantly pushing herself to learn to do more with her powers and expand her capability.
- Control: Jean has to be constantly in control of her emotions and powers. If she let her control over her emotion and power slip just for a moment her powers can become over powering. When she loses control she tends to projects out what she is currently thinking and feeling while telekinetically levitating anything that is not nailed down. When she loses control while angry she telekinetically ignites the air molecule causing fire.
- Overwhelmed: When using her telepathy on a strong mind or on too many people at once she can be overwhelmed. The person personality and thoughts can overpower Jean to where she can’t figure out which are hers and which are not. Sometimes it gets too much for her to the point she will pass out. After an incidence of being overwhelmed, she sometimes take personality traits from the person that over powered her. When she is overwhelmed by too many minds sometimes it is hard for Jean to get ‘the voices’ out of her head.
- Mentally Blocked: When Xavier first started to train Jean with her powers he put up a block on her telepathy so she could block out ‘the voices’ and others thoughts for it was too much for her and all the outsides thoughts were driving her insane. Because of the blocked that were place, Jean can not reach the full potential of her telepathy that could one day rival her teacher, Professor Xavier. If the blocks were some how removed Jean fears she would lose herself and go completely insane.
- Search for Perfection: Jean own need to be perfect can sometimes lead to her own down fall. Any mistake and failure she makes it where she has hard time moving pass it. She will going over and over the misstep trying to figure out where she went wrong and not rest until she figure out how never to make that mistake again and fix her failure.
- Only Human: Despite her amazing powers Jean is only human, if you prick her fingers she will bleed. Being human means she can suffer from most aliments a normal person can. She can get sick. She can break bones and have her heart broken. Bullets and knives if they get through her telekinetic shields will hurt her just as they would any normal person.
Mastery: Jean has the potential to one day be the world greatest minds. Professor Xavier once said to Erik Lensherr that ‘If Jean’s powers were on the Richter Scale, she would be a twelve.’ If she ever met her full potential with her telepathy she would not only be able to control the mind of everyone on Earth but also that of the more intelligent animals, such as dolphins, dogs, cats and ravens). Lensherr argued that the reason Xavier put the blocks on Jean was not to save her from her powers but to keep her from reaching her full potential for even Xavier would not be able to stop the girl if her powers were fully realized.
With her telekinesis one day she will be able to take an object and by feeling it’s texture she will be able to feel the molecular patterns, feel what objects has can contact with them and probe them at molecular level reading the psychometric of the object to the point she can read the emotion and thoughts of the person that has come in contact with the object.
With her angry out burst show that she has the potential for pyrokinesis but as of yet can’t seem to figure out how to control and access the power when not angry.
Learned Abilities: - Seamstress: She loves to make her own clothes. She also tends to go around repairing ripped and torn clothes she finds around the school.
- Cooking: She loves to learn to make a new recipes and experiment with food until she get things just perfect.
- First Aid: After she graduated school and during her first year of college Jean took EMT training. She figured it would come in handing if she was to once again be an X-Man.
- Martial Arts: Jean has study many forms of martial arts to protect herself and practice the meditation techniques. The must focused in her studies was karate, taekwondo and judo.
- Gardening: She likes to mess around in the school garden but unfortunately for the plants she is not very good at it. She had killed more plants then she actually help them grow.
- Languages: Jean is multilingual. Much like her mentor, she tends to telepathic pick up languages off people. She does it for she thinks that if she can speak with people in their native language they would be more comfortable around her.
Resources: a red 1967 Pontiac firebird, a pink ipod (that she uses to block out ‘the voices’ when they are overwhelming), a gold phoenix pendent on a gold chain
Education: Jean is a high school graduate. She has a college bachelor's degree in literature and a bachelor of science in biology. She has her EMT license and currently working on her last year in her doctrine in medicine.
So why not tell them the Truth Charles? The History
Jean Grey is the youngest daughter of Dr. John Grey head of the History Department of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York and his wife, Elaine. She and her sister, Sara grew up in a warm and nurturing environment. Dr. Grey pushed for excellence in both his daughter wanting them to be able to succeed at anything they set their mind on.
As long as Jean can remember she remember hearing ‘voices’, the voices being other people thoughts that she just randomly pick up in passing. Up until she was ten she could block out or just simply ignore ‘the voices’ but then something happened that would change her forever. Jean and her best friend, Annie Richardson, were walking home from school when Annie was hit by a car. Jean held her friend as she died. Not being able to let go of Annie the young telepath reached out for her and held on to Annie. Jean holding on to Annie made it where she felt and experience everything Annie ever had including her death. Experiencing death caused not just Jean telepathy to flair but her telekinesis as well. Jean was found passed out in small crater still clutching her dead friend’s body.
Jean woke up two days later in the hospital. She didn’t remember much about the accident just that the driver had blood red eyes and that Annie was dead. Jean could no longer block out or just ignore ‘the voices’ anymore. Not knowing what to do Jean began to isolate herself from her family and her remaining friends. She did it to try to protect them from what she might do and to protect her sanity.
Dr. Grey began to worry about her how withdrawn Jean became and even more concern when Sara told him that she heard Jean talking Annie. Elaine wanted to take Jean to psychiatrist. Before Dr. Grey could step a session with a therapist he got a call from Professor Charles Xavier, an old friend and Jean’s godfather. Professor Xavier came to Jean’s home with Erik Lensherr to help her. Jean told the Professor Xavier that she believed that she was going crazy. Xavier explained to Jean that she was not crazy but that she was mutant. Xavier helped Jean block out ‘the voices’ and the residue memories of Annie.
Jean began to have sessions regularly with Xavier to develop her telepathy and training with Mr. Lensherr to help her with her telekinesis. The Professor at first didn’t tell her parents that Jean was a mutant. He told the Greys that the sessions were to help Jean get over the trauma of Annie’s death. The young telepath was again flourished under the tutoring of Professor Xavier and Mr. Lensherr and she began to look forward to their weekly session. When Jean was fifteen Xavier invited her to spend a week at his family home that he had turned into a school. She enjoyed her time at the school. Her enjoyment of the school may have been because of meeting Scott Summers.
Her interested in Scott caused her a bit of trouble for during a training session with Xavier’s instead of focusing on her lesson telepathically she was reaching out and exploring sleeping Scott’s mind. Professor Xavier reprimanded Jean for the trespassing and decided for her own good to erect psychic barriers in Jean’s mind until she had develop the maturity and self control necessary to deal with her powers properly. The mental block Xavier placed cause an argument between Xavier and Lensherr. Lensherr believed the block actually hurt the girl more than help.
Professor Xavier after Jean spent the week at the school recommended to Jean’s parents that she be allowed to join the school. Dr. Grey agreed that the small school would be the best for Jean and couldn’t tell Jean no anyways for she had her heart set on it. Jean was the first formal enrolled student at Xavier. Despite being the first student it took Jean a while to be convince to become an X-Man but eventual both Scott and Mr. Lensherr convince her it was for the best and with that Marvel Girl was born.
When she graduated the school she dreamed of going to her father’s college with Scott and studying literature then eventually marrying him but apparently that was not in the cards. Dr. Grey after studying Jean’s grades and test scores decided that Jean must go to school to study medicine. Jean wanting to please her father agreed and ended up getting accepted into a pre-med program at Empire State. Jean tried to convince Scott to come with her but for some reason he seemed to be content to stay and go to a community college. Jean thought it was a waste of his potential and a sign that he was afraid to take things to the next level.
Jean worked hard at pre-med and then med school. She also did her best to keep in contact with everyone at the school. She missed the school and the family she had built herself. When Xavier’s called the first class students home she didn’t think twice, even if it was the last year of med school for after all family comes first.
All schools have tests. Sample Post It had been a while since Jean’s last session and it made her worry. The long the time between her session the more she felt she would suddenly forget all her previous lessons. She worried about disappointing the Professor and not making any progress in what they previously covered. The worry quickly build for Jean, it was like every moment was another brick made from worry slowly bricking her behind a wall like a story by Edgar Allen Poe.
Jean closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She pushed away her worries and let her mind wander for she found it was the best thing she could do before a session with Xavier. Jean always did better with an unstressed mind it just sometimes hard to get it to such a state. She kept her eyes close and tilted her head back trying to focus on nothing. Slowly her mind began to wander as she began to relax.
As her mind wandered and drifted her thoughts her mind began to seek another out. The mind it was looking for was easy to find and then explore for the owner, one Scott Summers, was asleep having went to bed early for he was feeling a bit under the weather. Her mind began to explore the sleeping teen’s mind probing for more shifting deeper into his head. Her curious mind wanted more.
“Jean…”
She ignored him as her curious mind found things of interest. Thoughts of her. He had so many interesting thoughts of her.
“Jean!”
She continued to ignore him as she explored Scott’s thoughts of her. A brush filled her cheek as Scott’s thoughts got more interesting. The kind of interesting that would only by found in the sleeping mind of a lonely sixteen year old mind.
“*JEAN, THAT IS ENOUGH!*” Xavier’s voice boomed in her ears and in her head making it where he was impossible to ignore. She slid out of Scott’s mind as fast and easy as she had slid in. Jean slowly opened her eyes and looked to her teacher.
He was angry. More angry than she ever seen him. She was unsure why he was mad, though. She hadn’t hurt Scott. She hadn’t change or altered anything she found. Jean wondered could his anger simply be because she ignored his call.
She slid her best smile in place and folded her hands in her lap. “I am sorry, Professor. My mind was just wandering.” Jean was sure that if she apologized the Professor anger would disappear and she would get her session and maybe a new lesson. Maybe afterwards she would let her mind wander a bit more over Scott’s.
