Brandon watched as the S.H.I.E.L.D. car drove away, leaving him here at this mansion, it didn’t look much like a school, but he had seen the sign so he guessed it was true after all. He only owned the clothes he was wearing, which had been provided by S.H.I.E.L.D, just a plain white t-shirt, pair of sweatpants and running shoes, but at least they were clean.
He walked towards the entrance, he didn’t know what to do here really, the people from S.H.I.E.L.D. had been helpful enough, but they had pretty much abandoned him now. He knocked on the big doors, no answer, so he slowly opened them and took a peek inside “hello? Anyone here?” he asked as he walked inside, he felt really awkward about this, he was in a completely unknown building far away from where he was used to being “uh… new student arriving here! Could anyone help me?” he asked out pretty loudly as he slowly walked down the hallway.
It was the middle of the day, people were probably in classes, but he had to bump into somebody sooner or later right? So he stood there and waited, he had no idea where to go to get to the staff offices or anything, so he figured he could wait here for now.

Xavier was in his office, at least physically. But that was before he sensed the presense close to his school. One word reverberated in echos into his mind. SHIELD. Fury was a real sneaky bastard. He sighed in annoyance and scanned the situation. This had better be good. Quickly he discovered the situation. Fury was sending him a student.
Brandon Sharpe, electrical manipulation. But Fury was bringing him... that could mean... alot. It could be good, it could be bad. He could find out right now, but he didn't think Fury meant him or his school any real harm. At worse Fury saw them as an asset. He would have to learn differently another day.
Xavier rolled out of his office and down the hallway. By the time he arrived at the entryway, Brandon had entered the school, he looked over the young man. No luggage. So they can afford aerial fortresses but no supplies for their refugee? Maybe he would make Fury moon the President in some sort of revenge.
"Hello there. I am Charles Xavier. Welcome to my home and school." He said with a smile. Today Xavier wore a white turtle neck shirt and black sweatpants. His shirt had the school logo across the chest. He extended his hand. "How can I help you?"

Brandon smiled nervously as the older man in the wheelchair approached “hello, my name is Brandon Sharpe, thank you” he grabbed his hand firmly and shook it politely “so if you are Charles Xavier, this must be your school and you must be the guy I was told to say hi to from Nick Fury”. Nick Fury had given Brandon a mixed impression, sure the guy did help him, but there was something about him that he didn’t trust, especially the part where he said that Brandon owed him one, that bothered him.
“I don’t know how to do this, but well, Fury said that this is a school for mutants and where I belong with my powers, so I guess I would like to join your school somehow” he was a bit nervous about this part “I don’t know how to pay you, but I will work hard and I will try to get a job so I can pay you at least after some time, if there are others like me here and people who can teach me how to control my powers, I need this place and will do anything to join” he knew it was unrealistic, but the best he could do for now.
“Your school looks amazing by the way, it looks more like a mansion, I would love to get used to this place, if that is possible” he felt a bit pathetic, almost begging like this, but this was his only chance at getting his life back on track, if he got thrown back out on the street he wouldn’t find any way to fix his life. He thought Charles looked like a very sympathic man, but also quite intelligent, Nick had said he was a very nice man so maybe there was hope. What Fury had not mentioned was that the school was free for all and wouldn’t cost him anything.

Xavier nodded. "I appreciate the upfrontness about the fact that Fury sent you here, it means that more than anything else you are just a young man that he picked up. What is your ability by the way?" Xavier smiled. "I am a telepath myself, part of the reason I started this was the discovery of my mutant power as well as others."
He listened to the young man and waved him off about the issue of payment. "The school is free of charge to all who pass through these doors. I have certain support mechanisms that I and others have setup to supply the school with continuous operating funds." He stopped there and left it alone for now.
He led Brandon down the hallway towards his office and selected his log sheet to see where he could bunk Brandon. "I assume you are without luggage, not to worry, I will send you out with one of my staff members to select some wardrobe for yourself."
"Now what would you like to know Brandon and what would you like to tell me about yourself?"

Brandon shrugged “I don’t know much about Fury, he just told me to tell you everything as I could trust you, but to be honest, I don’t trust him and I don’t really trust you either” he said pretty bluntly “trusting strangers is rarely a good idea” he added and shrugged again.
“My powers are electric, I can shoot out electric blasts, drain things of electricity or use it other ways, Fury said you could help me with learning more about it and about how to control it better?” he asked, even if he didn’t fully trust him, he did need help in many ways and would take it.
He was slightly doubtful about it being free, he had learned that nothing in life was free, but he nodded and felt a bit better “if this is the case, then you really are a good person” he meant it, but time would tell if this was right or not.
Entering the office, Brandon took a seat and crossed his arms, he nodded “yes, this is all I got” he looked down his plain clothes, not exactly what people would wear other then while working out or while just relaxing at home. “That would be great” he had always been able to get his hands on clothes and food, either by stealing or spending money that he earned from his street performing, so he was always well fed and usually dressed in clothes that wasn’t too bad.
“There isn’t much to know about me really” he shrugged “name is Brandon Sharpe, I am 18 and have the past couple of years been living on my own in the streets of California” he thought about what to tell and what to keep to himself “before that, I was into acting and stuff, I was featured in a couple of advertisements on TV” he didn’t want to tell anything else, things were just too personal. “Please, stay out of my head” he added, trusting a telepath wasn’t necessarily easy.

Xavier nodded to the comment about not being trusted. That was fine, there were those who didn't when they first arrived. Brandon's reasons were reasonable. "Hopefully you will find this place's strangeness welcoming enough," he quipped and continued down the hall to his office.
He listened to Brandon's description of the powers and nodded, filing it away for later. "That would be my hope Brandon, the success rate is not assured. While most of us can learn to control our abilities with some amount of work; there are those who achieving it is a very long and perhaps endless journey." He shrugged. "I just want you to know upfront that its not guerenteed. Since we are both not being electricuted and you aren't wearing any kind of equipment to prevent that, I will assume that you are part of the super majority who can and just need to get past the point where your emotions activate your powers. That is a very easily attainable goal."
Xavier selected a room off the list and fetched the key. "I have no desire to pry into your personal secrets. The only time I will be surface scanning your mind is when you ask or when you are using our power training center. The latter is see if you have a psychological barrier that will need theraphy for control."
He took the key with a room number tag. "Here is your key Brandon. I will send down some school apparel clothing and personal sundries for you. Tomorrow I will send a staff member, Jean Grey, with you to do some private shopping." He smiled to him. "I hope that you find Xavier's Institute a welcoming and suitable place for you."

Brandon nodded as they entered the office. He couldn’t help but like the older man, he seemed honest, Brandon liked that, plus if what Nick Fury told him was true, then this would be the perfect place for him.
“My control over my powers is pretty good, as long as I stay calm. I lose control when I am angry or scared, also accidents happens when nervous. Unless you attack me, scare me badly or piss me off, I don’t think anyone is in danger of being electrocuted today” he didn’t like using his powers against people when he wasn’t calm enough to control it, he never wanted to hurt anyone, that one time was one too many.
He gave the professor a nod, if he was telling the truth, Brandon wouldn’t need to worry too much about his thoughts being private, but he couldn’t help but feeling uneasy about it. “Thank you so much for your help, I hope I can find a way to pay you back one day, one way or another” he took the key and looked at it, his own room? It would be nice to get used to sleeping on a bed for once.
“I am looking forward to meeting Jean Grey then” he said with a smile “I am sure I will enjoy my time here, again, thank you” he reached out a hand to shake. He did feel like this was too good to be true, but he didn’t have anything to lose, it also did seem like even if it sounded too good to be true, it might actually be true.

Xavier nodded to Brandon as he spoke of his control with his mutant abilities and their emotional triggers. "That is actually very common, its one of the first barriers to us having real control over our powers. I suspect it has something to do with flight/fight triggers in our brains being the origin of our abilities." He said. "We might be able to help you with that." He always said might or maybe. His mind turned to Scott and Anna-Marie, two who would perhaps never be able to achieve full control over their abilities. He saw it as his failure, but at least they had control over themselves and their souls.
Others... he could not say that of.
He smiled as Brandon commented about paying him back. "I think you will understand that as you learn what this place is about... that the reward for me is your success. I start this place when I met the first person ever who was also a mutant. Erik Lehnsherr. He was a young man when I met him, about your age. He had the ability to control electro-magnetic fields. And at the highest levels. I suspect with enough training and experimentation his abilities would have become... with few limits." Xavier's voice trailed off into a pensive state.
"His powers were not ruled by his emotions, but his judgment was... His vision for the world was shaped by pain, fear, and anger. I thought I could show him a better way. For awhile, I thought I had."
He shook his head. "You don't need to hear about this today Brandon, forgive my ruminations." He extends his hand. "Have a good day; Brandon. Welcome to Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters."
