This is first and foremost a school. The Basics
Name: Scott Summers Codename: Cyclops Type of Character: Canon Species: Mutant Play-by or Voice Actor: James Marsden Age: 26 Gender: Male Sexual Preference: Heterosexual Height: 5'9 Weight: 185
Faction: X-men School Year: N/A Occupation: Teacher
Tough break Scott, doing the school play with pale gloomy and grumpy over there. The Details
Body Type: Muscled and lanky, Scott Summers has short brown hair that tends to be cut straight and off to the side. He is generally clean shaven but will scruff out when depressed. For a brief period he had long 'band' hair and some bad photos from that. When his powers are suppressed, he has blue eyes.
Wardrobe: Scott's wardrobe is dominated by a simple t-shirts, flannel button downs as fall sets in, turtle neck shirts, and a heavy brown jacket which was his father's. He wears usually black jeans and simple sneakers. Red Quartz glasses are his most known accessory as he must always wear them to contain his eye blasts. Always around his neck is a chain with his father's dog tags which is under his shirt so not to be shown.
Costume: Scott's costume is quite... bland. He wears blue body suit with a gold X striping across his chest and back. Red Quartz visor is on his head with his hair loose. On his blue glove of his left hand is a trigger to open the visor and unleash his beams. On the back side of his hands of his gloves are gold X's.
Posture: Everything about Scott screams control, to the point of being a freak about it. He is rare to found slouching, unless depressed where he will stand tall and stiff when walking but slouch against furniture and walls when standing idle. His biggest nervous twitch is to adjust his glasses or goggles which he does as an effort to intimidate.
Personality: A Type A personality to the extreme. Scott Summers among all things, when everything is good and cheery, is a control freak. He wants everything to be neat and tidy from his hair, to his clothes, to the room he is, to his students, to... He has referred to himself as the Dark Lord of Neat on more than once... and prefers those jack boots polished of course.
The loss of his family, his parents in their death, his brother to the state; is one of the longest lasting pains in Scott's life. He wears his father's dogtags as a constant reminder of Christopher and took to flying to be closer to his dad's memory. He often fought with himself about the idea of asking Charles to use Cerebro to search for Alex, but didn't ask because he didn't want to hear the worse.
Scott is the soldier, with tremendous appetite for military craft and spends long periods using his small units tactical simulator. He is still trying to make it a required course at the school. He does not have the battle lust of others but is not a pacifist. He keeps to himself the opinion that there will be a battle fought for the freedom and rights of mutants and humans, though is unclear how to create the peace, a task he has absolute faith in Xavier to create... once he has won the war and broken the agents of hate. If there is a war to be fought, he will be ready to win it.
One of the balancing aspects of Scott that allowed him to come out of his shell was his relationship with Jean. She will always be his first love but they have drifted apart a bit as they also were seperated by distance. They have been in touch both through media and in person during their college years but not going to the same school has left back at nearly square one.
Scott and his powers have a relationship that is perhaps perplexing. Considering the inhibitions that his powers' flaws have caused him, you would think that Scott would resent his powers. This is not the case. Scott is a proud mutant who is always willing to help and talk to those whose powers are seen as curse not blessing, he wears (and feels) a viewpoint that... this is the hand we are dealt... make the best of it.
Scott's personality has a flip side that is quite shocking. While able to handle tremendous stress and difficulties, he is a bit of pessitimist, when Scott crashes he crashes hard. He will abandon any pretext of cleaning either his environment or himself. Another aspect of 'gloom and doom' Scott is an art streak. Normal Scott Summers is a man of logic, math, and truths... 'gloom and doom' Scott is an artist who favors abstract designs. This near Hyde like transformation probably seems like a total table flip and it is, depressed Scott wishes to escape his reality.
An aspect of Scott that seems to conjoin these two sides of his persona is his hoppy of classic car restoration. With much of his needs taken care of as a resident of Xavier's, Scott uses his income from teaching to finance the restoration of classic American cars in the garage. Rebuilding engines, painting the body, upholstering... its a science that lets him get dirty and make something beautiful. And of course, afterwards he gets the obsessive semi-erotic pleasure of scrubbing and scrubbing clean.
Turn Ons: Cleaning, math, cars, flying planes, the color blue, and his tactics design. Abstract art (when in a bad mood).
Turn Offs: The color red, English Lit and poetry, little kids, and a dirty room (though he gets a thrill from cleaning it up). Abstract art (when in a good mood.)
Worst Secret: He writes his grudges on red index cards so he get it out of his system but never read it afterwards. Character Goals: Be an excellent model for the student population of Xaviers, win Jean's heart, and build the nastiest good guy strike force ever. **Two year Goal- Become Dean of Students, propose to Jean, formalize the X-men **Five year Goal- Take over the XI's day to day operations, a kid or two with Jean, franchise the X-men
So... got any cool powers? Powers and Abilities
Genetic Mutation: Scott Summers is an alpha level blaster who absorbs solar energy through his pours to store and utilize his energy blasts. These blasts emit from his eyes, or more accurately, dimensional appetitures in his eyes that emit concussive kinetic blasts. These blasts are purely forceful in nature and come out in a ruby red visible spectrum. They are on the lowest settings able to bust the lock of a door and at the highest obliterate rock and cave in reinforced metal structures/armor. Weaknesses:
- Brain Trauma- Injuries and psychological trauma that Scott suffered from bailing out of his parents' plane before their death renders him unable to disable his optical blasts. His floodgate is always on and forces him to wear his ruby red quartz glasses or visor.
- External Source- Scott requires solar energy to power his optical blasts, but because he is always 'ON' he can't really store energy. As a result, if Scott were to be denied access to solar energy for about more than half a day, he would be powerless for a short while.
- Sibling Immunity- Both strength and weakness, Scott Summers is immune to the powers of his mutant brother Alex Summers, but the reverse is true as well.
Mastery: Scott's powers can not be mastered but through the use of technology he has gained a pseudo-mastery. Via his visor, Scott can manipulate the strength of his beam from a pinpoint blast that can burn through the lock of a door to a blast that can tunnel through a wall. He is quick to modify his blasts strengths and even quicker to shoot.
Learned Abilities: - Martial Arts- With his powers having limited use in close combat, Scott has taught himself basic martial arts so to defend himself when the enemy closes in.
- Classic Car Restoration- Scott's biggest hobby is classic car restoration, working in the garage to rebuild derelict cars.
- Tactics- Scott is a self taught tactican but a pretty good one.
- Piloting- Scott definitely inherited his father's piloting skill, and when he is behind the controls of the plane, he feels the most in touch with his father.
Resources: A ruby quartz visor, '62 Mustang in red.
Education: College Bachelor's Degree in General Education. An AS in automobile mechanics. Excels at mathmatics.
So why not tell them the Truth Charles? The History Raised in Anchorage Alaska with his brother Alex Summers by his father Major Christopher Summers and his mother Katherine Ann. They had a happy family life until the worse of accidents claimed all that. While flying in the family plane, Christopher Summers developed multiple engine failure. He was forced to give the only parachute to his two sons while he attempted to execute a crash landing. As the two boys fell to the ground the chute malfunctioned and it looked like his father's efforts would be in vain. But then Scott's powers erupted, firing a blast of kinetic energy to slow the freefall and allow the boys to survive.
Once in state's custody, the boys were seperated and Scott lost track of his little brother. Scott's time in the orphanage would leave him haunted for years as he would have constant nightmares similar to alien abduction, unbeknowst to Scott was that he was experimented on by Dr. Millibury, the name used by Nathaniel Essex while running the orphanage. Eventually Scott would runaway from the orphanage and 3 months shy of his 16th birthday, his powers would erupt again.
Walking down the street, Scott was assaulted by a criminal, as Scott was held by the scruff of his neck. His eyes turned red and a blast of energy erupted from them, severing the chain of a crane high above the city, sending a steel girder falling to the crowd below. However before it hit, another blast from Scott obliterated the beam. His eyes slammed shut, Scott fled from the crowd. Later that night Charles Xavier would find him. He presented the young man with a set of glasses that would restrain his mutant gift until Scott could control it himself.
Xavier took Scott to his ancestral home and explained to Scott the purpose of mansion turned school. He asked Scott to join him as one of his first students, as a future teacher and leader, and as the first X-man. Scott jumped at the chance. While at Xavier's Scott became the favorite pupil of Erik Lehnsherr. Xavier was the doting the father type who gave the kids structure, faith, and love. Erik was the taskmaster, an older brother almost to Scott who taught Scott how to fight, how to lead, how to make war with his mind. Scott was one of the closest to Erik and considered leaving with the disgruntled Dean when he left but Erik persueded him to stay... stating that the school would need someone to protect it from the things that go bump in the night.
Scott's life at Xavier's was also peeked by his meeting with Jean Grey. From the moment he met her, Scott was hooked on the young woman. It took awhile for Scott to get Jean to notice him, he was a shy introvert in the beginning after all. But towards the end of their time at Xavier's, they were starting to seriously date. However, Scott wasn't the best all around student and in order to continue his education he had to go to community college. Jean hailing from a collegic family background and a natural over-achiever had already done some of her under-grad work for college and was escalated to a serious college in New York City. This brought a screeching halt to their relationship just as it was getting its feet under it.
For a brief period, the first class of students left the school to earn their college education but promised to be always on call if their roles as X-men were needed. Scott gained a bachelor's in General Education and an AS in automobile engineering. He would then answer Xavier's call to return to the school and work there as a teacher.
All schools have tests. Sample Post
There was a certain level of challenge in painting when the only color you can see in is shades of red. Scott Summers reflected on this aspect as he wore the white painters suit and rebreather mask as he sprayed the black paint over the stripped and primed Grand AM. He always had someone else do a spot check before he left it to dry. Of course the machine was broken down into its component parts and the chrome ports were covered in masking tape. He was doing this one as a gift for Xavier and had ripped up a hands only control and locking port for the chair. He hoped he liked it. Though he suspected Xavier preferred the chaufered limo style instead.
He still remembered the car he had done for Lehnsherr just before he left. It had been a piece of art, an Austin-Healey 3000 Mark II, done in the North American style. Blood red with white flames and imperial purple stripping. The former Dean had left with his bags in the trunk of the machine. They had stayed in touch a little and his often opponent in any war game sim was Erik.
That reminded him, he had to get back at Erik for that nasty trick he pulled on him last time. Who mines the inside of their own base? Still it taught him something, next time he would mine any resource nodes he couldn't hold so Erik wouldn't be able to maintain his supply.
He finished spraying it down and pulled out his cell phone. "Hey Bobby, can you come down here and give me a spot check? I am in the garage."

A very good application, the only thing missing for me is about his family. How he feels about the loss of his parents, how he feels about loosing track of his brother, how these things have affected him. So just add something about this and I will be approving
