This is first and foremost a school. The Basics
Name: Erik Lehnsherr Codename: Magneto Type of Character: Canon Species: Mutant Play-by or Voice Actor: Michael Fassbender Age: 44 Gender: male Sexual Preference: heterosexual Height: 6'2 Weight: 215
Faction: Brotherhood School Year: N/A Occupation: Mutant Freedom Fighter/Leader
Tough break Scott, doing the school play with pale gloomy and grumpy over there. The Details
Body Type: Erik has short silver hair with blue eyes that shine. He has an aristocratic chin and bearing the summons the word command and passion. He is very muscular and shows degrees of intense exercise.
Wardrobe: Preferring black clothing, Erik wears black shirts or sweaters and black jeans. He has a military jacket that he wears in desert cameo brown that he wears over his dark clothing. On his neck is a silver vial containing ashes from his slain daughter's funeral pyre. He usually wears laced up black boots in the military style and is commonly seen with a steel cane with a ruby topper.
Costume: Magneto wears a set of armor made of scaled plating going up his shins to his shoulders and down to his elbows. The plating is imperial purple with red highlight. Under the armor, he wears a black bodysuit of material which is able to stop or deflect light gunfire or knife slashes. His boots and gloves are seperate pieces of armor in the same color scheme as the body. The gauntlets are fully articulated. His helmet, which is psi-shielded, is black with imperial purple trim around the outline of the facial opening. On the helm is an embossed M. Finally, he wears a red cape with black trim down his back to his ankles.
Posture: Flashy and regal are the descriptions of Magneto's pose. He excludes command and uses demonstrations of his power to inspire and terrify his audiences. Those who are not beckoned forth with one hand to become brothers will be laid low and subserviant with the other. His actions are those of one who wants to impress...one way or the other.
Personality: Erik Lehnsherr is a man of deep contradictions and anger. Born the only child of holocaust survivors, he was raised in Palestine/Israel knowing what the knock on the door might mean. The words 'Never Again' are burned into his mind and heart. He believes in them utterly. His viewpoint of the world is marred in both this and a conflict he was born to.
Erik's parents were killed in the perpetual violence of the mid-east when he was ten. The first of several losses that would shape his life. The death of his infant daughter at the age of 17 further cemented his viewpoint that people were killers and your only choice was to stand on top of the biggest pile if you wanted to live. He has been adding to his pile since then.
Though his mutant powers had manifested before then, Erik only later came to understand the depth and raw strength of his powers. He believes that his power, intelligence, and vision make him the future king of the whole world.
Erik believes that mutants are the natural inheritors of the world but are not destined to peacefully take this world. No, corrupt and stagnant the world will have be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the bright golden future. Erik does not truly hate humanity, such would be beneathe him, nor does he fear them when it comes to his own existance but Erik is one of the strongest mutants on Earth... perhaps the Strongest. It is for his less developed brethern who Erik fears. Mostly he fears for Charles that he will only do what is necessary with his 'children' laying dead around him and then... go too far. Erik does fear Xavier, if Xavier turned to his own darker instincts... no one would be safe. The all seeing Eye would bloat out the sun itself is a nightmare that Erik awakens to in the dark of the night. For a man who only has nightmares... it is his greatest and most cold nightmare.
Erik wishes to restart the world along the concept of advanced technological centers with most the planet either operating in an Agrarian society or primordially restored. Heavy industry will be done in space platforms. Erik sees the human race, led by Mutantity, as moving into space. Earth, though must be restored, is just the womb... and the arrival of Homo Superior is proof that we are ready to leave our safe warm dark place for the cold big world beyond our horizon. Its time to leave... its time to reach out and touch the face of god.
'To become one ourselves.'
Turn Ons: Sultry women, power, the color purple, exotic mutations, violence.
Turn Offs: Chains, religion, modern industry, mechanized military power, the color yellow.
Worst Secret: He loves Xavier as a father, but knows he might have to die.
Character Goals: Conquer humanity and install Mutant leaders, remake society along a set of course to perserve the planet while facilitating technological growth, bring the X-men into his fold. **Two year Goal - Establish a mutant beachhead, convince the X-men of his mission. **Five year Goal - Conquer North America or Europe from his base of operations in Africa. Use a reconfiguration of Africa as a framework for the rest of the world. Install Cyclops as Mutant Imperator of America.
So... got any cool powers? Powers and Abilities
Genetic Mutation:
Electromagnetic Manipulation
- Direct Manipulation: With direct manipulation, Erik is able to control and manipulate ferronic materials of extensive range. His mastery level allows him to manipulate the iron in a person's blood or (effortlessly) crush a mainstay battle tank into a block of scrap metal. Extreme use of this can immobilize entire armies or shatter cities.
- Field Manipulation: Field manipulation allows Erik to float on the Electromagnetic sphere, basically flying. This is not the limit of it. It also allows him to create highly durable defensive shields to eclipse over his form in a bubble able to repel physical and energy attacks.
- Tesla Effect: By forming positive--negative imbalances Erik can create electrical discharges. Relative to his other options, this is a pretty weak effect. It is good for dispersing an opponent or stunning someone but since a direct manipulation can achieve the same results with less effort... he rarely uses this option unless its to impress.
- Neural Manipulation: Though difficult and requires some extra concentration as well as setup time, Erik is able manipulate neural vibration in a person's brain. This technique require direct contact and allows for no other use of his powers to be applicable. So either the target must be willing or otherwise restrained. This only seems to be able to remove other manipulations via chemistry or implantation, or even rudimentry telepathy but does not allow Erik to impose his own thoughts.
Weaknesses: Erik's predominant weakness is mental due to his conflicting trauma and fears. While he can stave off minor telepathic attacks, without his helmet, a concentrated attack will undo him. A secondary weakness is environmental. The absense of manipulable metal can weaken his options but more dangerous, though rare, is the absense of electromagnetic fields.
Learned Abilities: - Technocrat- Erik is a prolific engineer and inventor.
- Linguist- Erik speaks Hebrew, English, German, Russian, and French fluently. He has passable Japanese and Spanish.
- Martial Arts- Erik studied short sword (european) fighting styles as a form of meditation while mastering his powers.
Resources: Owner and Chief Engineer of Magnus Industries, owner of Avalon Ranch in Africa, several personal (and self built) electromagnetic planes and a rail line in Africa.
Education: MBA and PHD in Electro-Magnetic Physics
So why not tell them the Truth Charles? The History
Erik Lehnsherr's parents escaped Nazi Death Camps of World War Two and emigrated to Palestine. It was there that Erik Lehnsherr was born. The young man was the first born followed by a younger brother Dekian and a baby sister. Things went well until Erik was just 8 years old, his parents had raised him to believe that their life was now safe here in the Holy Land. It was a lie.
It was a peaceful day in Tel Aviv, a bustling deli, a reuben sandwich dripping with juices and onions. Then mortar attack hit the deli's patio. Erik doesn't remember the details. His father's body shattered, his mother protecting his sister, her dead vacant eyes... Those though, he remembers. His brother and him were seperated into state services. Erik doesn't know if his little sister survived. He remembers her name was Anya.
At thirteen, Erik discovered that he was... different. Metal moved on its own when he was around... mostly when he was angry. But then again... he was always angry. It didn't take long for someone to notice. There is a simple truth, what people do not fear... they used. Israeli Special Forces didn't fear Erik. They trained him and unleashed him. As he grew into his powers he experienced a rapid turning of his hair into a shiny metalic silver. During his training, Erik had gotten with a young woman who was one of his handlers, trainers. Together they had a daughter named Anya, in memory of his sister. Erik had hoped to recreate the family that he had lost in his youth with a fresh start.
During one of Israel's conflicts with its neighbors Erik was unleashed. The Syrian tanks stood no chance. The armor ripped from their frames, their projectiles used against them. Their crews shown no mercy.
Amidst the blood and slaughter, a young 17 year old Erik Lehnsherr met Charles Xavier. Initially Erik had not trusted Xavier. But the way the man spoke into his mind told him much. He had just met another really powerful mutant. Erik was only starting to hear the concept, whispered by the scientists and trainers in his company. Xavier told him the whole story. All around the world, mutants, homo-superior was being born with powers unlike anything else. He asked Erik to join him... to make a better world... not continue the sins of the world.
Erik agreed and together they started to leave the battlefield. Then a landmine went off, shattering Xavier's legs and sharpenal logged into his spine. The good man was paralyzed. What Xavier never knew was that Erik had known the device was there and did nothing to stop. Xavier had shown him a powerful lesson and, despite the other's thoughts later, had taken in that lesson. But Erik felt Xavier needed to learn a lesson... nothing ends in rainbow and roses easily.
How true was that... Erik would learn when he returned to his apartment in Tel Aviv and found it burning. His child and lover inside... burnt to crisp when he got in. He encapsuled their ashes into a silver token that he wears around his neck to this day. With nothing left for him, once Xavier was well enough, they traveled together to America.
To say that Xavier's mansion impressed Erik was an understatement. It highly impressed him. It also underscored the differences in their lives. There though Erik flourished. He quickly completed study after study, and used his knowledge and powers to transform Xavier's. In seven years, Erik had gained two college degrees and designed most of the lower basement.
Erik then left and started his businesses in Europe, wanting to make his own way into the future. While in Paris, he met a young woman named Suzanna. Like many that he met in that time, he courted her, bedded her, and left her. But despite the belief that she had left in a trail of dust behind her... he never took his eye off her and when she gave birth... he knew. He was amused when Lorna's powers killed her 'parents' in a simple surge. Marvelous. He had considered collecting her at that time. However the state quickly adopted her to the Danes. He watched closely for a time and then left her be.
When Xavier opened it as a school; Erik felt the need to take on the role of older brother, or uncle, to the mutant kids. To Jean, experimentation. To Emma, ambition. To Bobby, discipline. And to Scott, leadership and tactics. It was then that his life came full circle when Xavier told him about Lorna. He learned what his daughter had endured. Erik had been furious... why had Xavier not told him sooner. And what was Xavier going to do about it? Xavier was unsure what that meant. Erik made it clear. 'Render the degenerate mindless so he never wakes up or I will collect his head.' Xavier refused and told Erik he would have no place at the school if he did so. So the morning his daughter joined the school, Erik left.
He journeyed into the world and strengthen Magnus Industries, turning it into a global empire. He made his home on Avalon Ranch, a homestead in Africa from which he could escape prying eyes. Three years after leaving Xavier's, he made good on his threat... killing the Danes and leaving their trueborn daughter in the midst of nowhere. He then sent Lorna a present. Inside was an envelop with a message, a voucher for a ticket to see him in Paris, and a green helmet like his.
He then began to build the Brotherhood, recruiting Mutants who shared his vision for a better world. A world ruled by mutants. He established a castle like fortress on Avalon Ranch and features a round table. Where his knighthood, his Brotherhood would meet. For all mutants are Brothers and Sisters... united by Destiny.
