The Details

Body Type: Her most noticeable features are her natural green hair and her eyes have a metallic tint to them. She is a bit under weight. She, though she will deny it, has a body that most normal girl and models for that matter would die to have. She has small crescent scar on left knee, a scar Lorna received when playing superheroes with some of the neighborhood kids when she six. She got in a fight with an older boy who claimed Wonder Woman wasn’t really a superhero because she was a girl. During the fight she accidentally cut her knee with her homemade metal bracelets.

Wardrobe: Truly a denim girl, she rarely is not seen wearing jeans. Her style is very tom boyish, though when the mood strikes her she will wear a skirt or dress. Lorna normally wears steel toed boots that makes it easier to fly if she has to. Because of her powers she has a slight fetish for metal jewelry and tends to wear a lot of it, most of it being stuff she made herself. She wears lots of black, red and purple and likes to wear metallic nail polish.

Costume: Her training uniform is a black body suit with a yellow X crossing her chest and black steel toe boots the have yellow straps. Along the arms and legs of her training uniform are thin strips of metal that she can use as armor or weapons if she needs to. Slung across her hips is a yellow utility belt with a red X belt buckle. Lorna’s black gloves have small metal spikes aligning her knuckles.

Posture: She tends to hold her arms close to her body and wear her hair in her face as if she is trying to hide. She does her best to keep from getting too close to a person in fear of accidentally shocking them. Lorna rarely truly really smiles. She has a crooked little grin when she finds something amusing or likes something. She has a paper smile that she puts on when she pretends everything is alright or when she wants people to think she is happy that doesn‘t really reach her eyes. When angry or upset, Lorna’s eyes spark and her hair frizzes out because of her powers.

Personality: Lorna is a highly emotional person with a quick temper. She is quick to fight but also quick to ask for forgiveness, unless it’s some she doesn’t like then she has a hard time swallowing her pride. She believes in poetic justice. Once she gets an idea in her head, it is hard for her to get off it even if it proven wrong. She likes to champion the oppressed and downtrodden. She's quick to stand up against what she sees as an injustice and for what she thinks is right. She goes out of her way to correct injustices around her and speak up for those who can't. Her causes of choice are sexism and racism, anything that single someone out as different just because of the way they were born. Growing up believing something was wrong with her, that she was freak, made her not want anyone else to feel such a way.

Despite being quick to stand up for other she has a hard time standing up for herself do to her own perception of herself and fear that everyone can see her many flaws. Despite her inability to stand up for herself she is a stubborn and hardheaded when it comes to her dreams and beliefs. Even when someone tells her they are wrong or silly she holds on to them for she believes that they are the only thing that are truly her own.

She suffers from a case of bad self-image and is her own worse critic. She presents herself as being strong and confident in her actions and decisions; one might even say she does everything with a cocky swagger. However, this is all an act, a front to cover up feelings and perceptions of being inadequate, being unloved and being unworthy. If she some how fail at one of the tasks or goals she has sets for herself she deeply disappoint. She will pick apart her failure trying to find every little thing she did wrong so not to repeat her mistakes. She does her best to live in the moment but tends to get hung up on the little things and have a hard time letting go.

Lorna likes to keep busy, a side effect of her parents filling her childhood with classes, lessons and after school programs. In attempt to keep busy she tends to over extend herself and spread herself a little thin. When she can’t find something better to do Lorna studies whatever history books she can but if she feels need to relax she reads horror books.

She fears that somewhere deep down there maybe something dark in her for she always feels angry and want to lash out with this anger that seems to be festering inside her. She worried that she is the freak or monster some see her to be. In an attempt to battle her maybe buried evil nature by doing small good deeds, attempting keep her temper down and to hide how angry she really is. Doing good deeds is easy but controlling her temper and hiding her anger proves to be a challenge.

Worst Secret: Lorna blames herself for her parents’ death. Her guilty is part of the reason she still hasn’t open the gift her father left her.

Character Goals:Lorna dreams about becoming an archaeological geophysicist but is a bit of realist on the matter she believes she will never be much more than a history teacher at Xavier’s which she doesn’t mind for at least she can give back to the school and her home. Though, she hoped to one day to find someone that would love her and want to have a family with her but believes that is another dream that will never come true.
**Two year Goal - Lorna hopes to be going to Berkley studying geophysics and ancient history.
**Five year Goal - She hopes to be still studying at Berkley and have been to Egypt at least once.

Powers and Abilities

Genetic Mutation: Ferrokinesis- Lorna has the ability to control metal. With very little concentration she can move and shape metals in any ways she wants. At the moment she can only shape metal into simple shapes (sphere, cube) with little effort, more complex shapes (star, knot) with effort and energy. The large the piece of metal the more concentration it is required. At the moment the biggest piece of metal she can shape is four foot by four foot. Of her abilities shaping metal is her most develop for it was the easiest for her to focus on when she trains on her own.

For Lorna to use, move or manipulate metal it has to be with in twenty feet of her. The larger the object the more concentration and energy it take to lift with her powers. Currently, she can lift up to her own weight without straining. More weight the more strain on her and the faster it drains her. The heavier the object she has to lift the more she has to focus her energy on lifting the object. She can lift a small car for roughly fifteen minutes but will promptly passing out afterwards from the strain.

Magnetism- Lorna has the ability to repulse or attract metal as she desires for her body produces electrical charges that create strong magnetic fields. She can mentally control and alter magnetic fields to her will with the possibility to even reverse the polarity of them. With concentration, she can cause normally nonmagnetic metals to magnetize and bend them to her will.

Electromagnetic Bursts- Lorna has a high electromagnetic field, which causes her to zap people with low-level static shocks when she is nervous or gets startled. Through focus and training, she can manipulate her electromagnetic field to create bursts or blasts. Lorna’s energy bursts can disrupt electricity and transmission systems. Her blasts are her releasing electromagnetic energy as concussive blast. When hit by one feels similar to being struck by a surge of electricity and pushed forcefully away.

Electromagnetic Sight- By concentrating, Lorna can perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well as objects. Light is an electromagnetic wave and colors are merely waves with different wavelengths but many wavelengths can’t be process by the human eye. Lorna sees the electromagnetic spectrum in of colors not seen by most other that is like a hazy aura similar to a rainbow or prism. Every person’s magnetic aura is unique like a fingerprint. The more vivid the colors the stronger the magnetic field around it. Strong electromagnetic fields cause her body to tingle, similar to the feeling of 9 volt battery to the tongue. With the right training, she can use this ability for navigation or tracking purposes. Concentrating too much on seeing in magnetic and electrical energy patterns cause Lorna to have migraine and double vision when her eyes return to seeing the normal spectrum of colors.

Magnetic Flight- Lorna’s flight is achieved through affecting the polarity and intensity of the magnetic fields around her using the Earth‘s natural magnetic fields to propel herself. At the moment the limit of her flight speed is thirty miles an hour and becomes strained when she flew more than fifty miles without resting

Magnetic Force Field- By manipulating the magnetic fields she can also strength the fields around her, others and objects creating a force field. Her force fields are able to create 'bubbles' of magnetic force that repel any object she can affect with her powers. When physical forms hits the force field depending on the strength of the field at the moment will either receive a static shock or shock that is similar to if they put a fork in a light socket. If a person is wearing a lot of metal or have metal fillings the shock will be worse and liable to get repelled by the field or stuck to it. If they are wet the shock will also be intensify. Objects hitting the force field become electrically charged. Inside the field feels much like it does just before a lightning storm. The air feels rather thick, heavy and full of static and sounds as if it crackling. It causes a person’s hair to stand on end and the air has a slight coppery taste to it. Using her abilities she can also disrupt electronics and radio signals.

Organic Iron Manipulation- Lorna with great concentration can use her powers to manipulate the natural iron within the blood of living organisms.


Weaknesses: Self-Doubt – Lorna doubts herself so much that even when she right and things are going well she will second and third guess herself until she makes mistake or her floundering becomes an issue.

Angry Issues- Lorna is always angry and sometimes has a hard time hiding her anger.

Static Shock- When upset or excited Lorna tends to static shock whoever and whatever is around her.

Klutzy- Lorna accidently bumps her head and stump her toes on a regular basis.

Mental Vulnerable- Lorna’s mind is very vulnerable to mental attack be it telepathic or just normal manipulation.

Horrible Driver- Lorna’s driving skills are legendary bad and Scott claims she gave him a patch of grey hair when he taught her to drive. She tends to drive too fast and aggressively The reason for this is she fears that her powers will cause the car to far about and figures if she drives fast she can get to where she is going without destroying the car.


Learned Abilities: Spanish- took four years of Spanish.

Karate- one of the many after school programs her parents put her in had a brown belt before she quit.

Ballet- another after school activity she took to please her parents.

Baking and Cooking- Lorna was taught to bake and cook by her housekeeper when she young. When she gets nervous and upset about something she tends to bake for it what her housekeeper use to do for her when she was upset when she was a kid.

Self-Defense- She been trained at the school since she was thirteen to defend herself with and without her powers.

Rollerblading- Expert rollerblader and is known to rollerblade around the school


Resources: Lorna owns her parents’ house in Long Island, a condo in Florida and a cabin in Aspen, silver 2008 Jaguar, major stock in her father’s tech firm, a saving and trust fund account, a beige 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara . All but her jeep are taken cared by brokers, agents and caretakers hired by Xavier.

Education: Lorna is in her senior year of high school and has been taking advance history at the local community college in Bayville. She struggles with Algebra but takes extra math course figuring sooner or later it will all click.

The History

Lorna’s story starts before she was born with her mother Suzanna Roth. Suzanna was a young art history studying a board in Paris when she met and fell in love with a man. She had whirlwind affair that end as quickly as it had begun. She broke it off with him once she found out she was pregnant for she didn’t want to trap him in marriage that he truly didn’t want. Once back stateside she quit school and married a former boyfriend to assure her baby had a father and to avoid a scandal and the hardships of raising a child alone. Suzanna seemed to be the happiest woman alive when her daughter was born that fall in San Diego. She loved her daughter and did not even seem to think twice when the girl was born with a head of green hair. Her time with Lorna was short for a few weeks after her daughter’s birth she and her husband died in plane crash.

The authorities couldn’t explain what caused the plane crash and how the only survival was an infant. What the authorities didn’t know was the infant was a mutant and caused the crash. Lorna powers accidently activated during the flight and flared out of control taking out the computer and electrical system of the plane. The first flare of her powers killed her mother and stepfather but saved her own life. After the crash her powers once again went dormant until later into her life.

Not even a month old and Lorna was an orphan. The baby was then given to what authorities believed to be her closest relative, the sister and brother-in-law to Suzanna’s husband, an affluent couple from Long Island. The couple already had a girl of their own but was quick to adopt her and gave her their last name of ‘Dane’. Trying to spare Lorna the tragedy of her parents’ death the Danes never told her of her adoption. Mrs. Dane to avoid unwanted attention and in attempt to assure Lorna had a normal childhood she dyed the girl’s hair brown to cover up the girl natural attention grabbing green hair.

The Danes seem to put in a lot of effort to make Lorna appear normal and unremarkable. She had a rather boring childhood filled with her parents fussing and pushing her to be normal. All the pushing made Lorna feel like there was something was wrong with her as if she was somehow defective.

Lorna and her sister both went to an all girls’ Catholic school despite not being Catholic because their parents thought the structure and discipline was much better for the girls than public school or other local private school. Lorna found the even more rigid rules of school on top of her parents’ suffocating. Because of how her parents tried to keep her natural hair color covered, Lorna always felt she had to keep part of herself a secret this made her keep all the girls at school that attempted to befriend her at arm length. She kept to herself and had very few friends. She tried out for a few sports team at an attempt to fit in and please her parents. She did her best to do well at school and be good to show her parents that they could trust her and they could lighten their hold on her but it never seem to work.

When she was thirteen she started to get real bad migraines and had trouble keeping her watch working, these were signs of her re-emerging powers. During this time she began to blossom into a rather attractive young woman so much so she caught the attention of her stepfather. Slowly he began going out of his way to spend more time with Lorna. Subtly he began to ‘accidently’ walk in on Lorna while she was shower or changing and began to hug her a little too close for a little too long. Then one night when he was drunk he wondered into Lorna’s bedroom and began going on about repaying him for all the years he took care of her by now ‘taking care of Daddy’.

Once Mr. Dane’s pants came off Lorna’s powers explode forth taking out the electrical system to the house. Mr. Dane thought nothing of it but that it was a blown fuse and continued his advances on Lorna. Metal and sparks began to fly around the room when he lifted up her nightgown and then Lorna blacked out. Lorna remembered nothing about that night or least claims she doesn’t.

Lorna woke up in a hospital room alone. She was confused and alone and then Professor Charles Xavier and Scott Summers were there. Professor Xavier explained that she was a mutant and offered her a place at his school. The confused girl refused to admit that she was a mutant; she didn’t want to be a freak.

She ran from the hospital room her anger and fear caused the electrical system of the hospital to blow. Scott went after her and talked to Lorna. He helped her come term with the fact she was a mutant and that she was not a freak. With Scott’s convincing, she agreed to give the school a shot. Lorna afterwards tried to get in contact with her family but she was unable to. From the nurses at the hospital she found out her father was brought in with her he had suffer from electrical burns and had metal embedded in his face and back. She was horrified realize she was responsible.

As Lorna was coming to the school Erik was leaving. Erik and Xavier’s having an argument the night before Lorna was release from the hospital and arrive at the school. Lorna was disappointed by this for she believed Erik could have helped gain control over her powers and her how not to accidently hurt anyone with them again.

Lorna despite being at the school with the first class of Xavier’s never seemed to have fit in with them. They seem to think of her as nothing but the annoying little sister that followed them around and they really didn’t have time for her. Being so much younger than everyone she still felt like an outsider and struggled with fitting in. Despite her struggles she did find herself more at home at the school.

Life at the school went smoothly and mostly was happy despite her struggle with finding her place. Then came Lorna’s sixteenth birthday, that night after her birthday cake Xavier had to pull her to the side and inform her that her parents were dead and her sister, Zala, was missing. The young green haired mutant didn’t know what to think or how to feel. For three years, Lorna had been trying to get into some form of contact with her family with no success. All her letters were return to sender, her parents’ had change the number on the house phone and their person cells and when she went out to their house no one would answer the door. Upon the death of her parents and disappearance of her parents she inherited all their money and holdings as their only living heir and relative and she became a ward to the Professor. That night she also received a birthday present with a tag addressed to her from her father but she could never bring herself to open it.

Lorna came a bit withdrawn after the death of her family. She focused on studying. Part of her wanted to prove to her parents that she could make something of herself that she was just not a freak and part of her just rather deal with books than people. While in her, self-imposed exile she dreamed about becoming an archaeological geophysicist. She figured maybe if she study the past she could better relate to people in the now but being a bit of realist on the matter Lorna believe she will never be more than a history teacher at Xavier’s.

As more students around her age began to attend the school she began to venture out of room more and away from her books. She is consider to be a bit of a troublemaker for she has been caught a few time drink out behind the boathouse but most of the trouble she does get into tend to her stepping up to take the fall for someone else. Despite inheriting a great deal of money Lorna got a job working part-time as a waitress at Harry’s Hideaway.
