There were days when conquering the world was... not a priority. For Jullian those were called sundays. So it was a bright and nice Sunday afternoon and Jullian was spending some time with his little girl. He was dressed in a white sweater and dark blue jeans as he pushed a stroller with little Juliet in it. The stroller was pink and white with a sunshade over the seat. Inside was the little girl in a princess t-shirt and her diaper. Her 6-month old status had not inhibited her mutation and her toys danced in the air over her, a courtesy of her own telekinesis. Jullian was proud of that, though it did make keeping her in her crib hard at night.
The world was not meant for flying babies.
Today, they were spending time at the zoo. Jullian stopped outside a big cat exhibit, a small group of panthers. He picked up Juliet and held her. "Look at the pretty kitties, Juliet." He pointed to one of the cubs who was nuzzled his/her mother from the looks of it. "Look its a baby and his mommy." He pointed to it.

As much as Lila loved the sisters at the convent, she was so glad people still came to confession after mass. It meant that Father Forthill and Decan Gonzalas were too busy hearing confession and minding the congregation to handle the altar guild jobs, or take things into the Sacristy. Which, in turn meant the sisters took over and were far to busy to notice Lila going out on her own for the afternoon.
She loved Central Park Zoo more than the Bronx Zoo because the exhibits were smaller, and therefore the animals were fewer and actually had more space. Plus, the exhibits were all glass, no bars. The animals felt more like they were in the natural, and not in a cage.
Lila knew something about being in a cage.
She was watching the panthers, her favorites, when the shy beauty saw an adorable little girl and her father watching them as well. Subconsciously, Lila's hand went to toy with the gold and ruby pendant around her neck. She always wondered if her father had given it to her. Or if her father had ever known she even existed.
Still though, watching the young man about her age with the little one as she dropped her rattle, it warmed her heart. She smiled softly over in their direction, the sun glinting off her long blond hair as it spilled over her shoulders. She wore a red wool cloak over her clothes --and wings-- and the color offset her fair skin, making her eyes stand out even more than they usually did.
"Here you go, little one." Lila said, her smile very warm as she handed the rattle back to the little girl. "I'm sorry, I did not mean to intrude on your time with her... she's a lovely baby."
Lila gave an awkward curtsey of sorts and turned to go on her way.

Jullian turned and smiled at the sight of the lovely blond. She was quite a dream, he felt, as he looked her over. The red wool cloak was quite an interesting feature, it made him think of a Celtic witch in a story he read, and the fact that nothing had been under it as she 'nursed' the wounded warrior back to health. Jullian doubted such details would play out here... though he could fantasize about it.
Juliet seemed to like the intruder, her attention off the panthers and shaking the rattle at the blonde woman. Her cooing and giggling nose made it cleared that she liked the new person. Juliet had a small tuff of brown hair that would darken as she got older no doubt, and green eyes. "No apologies needed. Please stay and join us." Jullian took his daughter and hugged her with left arm to his shoulder. He extended his right hand to her. "Jullian Keller, and this little ray of sunshine is Juliet."
"Pwetty!" Juliet commented and pointed at Lila.
"I don't think that's her name princess, good nickname." He kissed her cheek and winked to Lila.

The shy smile that crossed Lila's face when Julian introduced himself blossomed into a full on beaming one when the little girl pointed and called her pretty.
"Pretty? Me?" She gently took Juliet's hand and placed it on her own little pink chest. "No.. Juliet is pretty." Now the little hand was placed on Lila's cheek as she looked up at Julian. "As long as you're sure I wouldn't be intruding. I love children. I'm Delilah Matthews, but please call me Lila.
As Lila took Julian's hand to shake it in greeting, an almost electric charge of attraction surged through her, and her skin seemed to glow with a faint sheen of warm light. She blushed prettily, her hand lingering a bit longer in Julian's hand than it probably should have, and her gaze holding his own emerald green one for a moment more than could be considered just friendly.
She turned her big luminous eyes back on the baby girl. "Can you say Lila?"

Jullian smirked as Lila played back with Juliet and enjoyed the glow of attraction that surged through her while she shook his hand. He was quite curious about that quality. "Yes Juliet is pretty but so are you Lila."
Jullian watched her interaction with Juliet and smiled when Juliet said, "Liea." Meh, close enough. Jullian loaded her back into the stroller and turned his attention to Lila.
"I hope that you enjoy yourself today, that's what its all about. Of course meeting a beauitful new gi- friend is always a delight." He smiled to her and bumped her along the shoulder. As they walked once more Juliet's toys began to move via the little girl's telekinesis.
Jullian noticed that and hoped Lila didn't. "Would you like a drink Lila?" He pointed to the snack hut that they were approaching. "I will get the little one a juice box and grab a cola or tea for us."

Lila, blushed at Julian's comment about her looks, and laughed when Juliet tried to say her name. The little girl had completely stolen Lila's heart, and if she was honest her father was incredibly charming as well. She nodded when Julian offered to buy her a drink, saying "Thank you so much, that is so nice! Um... tea would be lovely, thanks."
When Julian went to get their drinks, Lila noticed Juliet's toys dancing of their own volition. Her mouth made a perfect little "o" of surprise and she knealt down next to the stroller to get a better look. Beneath her red cloak, Lila's wings folded under her, the feathers brushing the ground just peeking out from under the red wool.
"Wow, aren't you the most amazing little girl? I like your trick Juliet. The bears seem a little cold though." She lifted a hand underneath the dancing teddy's, and tiny little balls of sunlight began dancing among the bears.
Lila held a finger up to her lips. "Shhhhh... our secret, okay?"
When Julian came back with the drinks, she rose to stand with him, turning off the dancing sunshine, but most likely not before he could see what she had been doing.
"Did you know she can--that Juliet is capable of amazing things?" Lila asked, clearly in awe if he was aware of his daughter's powers. "I'm sorry-- that was rude of me. It's just-- amazing to me that a parent would know about a gift like Juliet's and not be afraid of her."
She glanced down at her tea, clutching the cup tightly in her hands. "I-- hope that wasn't too forward of me."

Juliet clapped at Lila's display and said, "pwetty." She was clearly impressed.
Jullian returned with the drinks and smiled as Lila fauned over his little princess. He gave a soft smile as he saw the dancing light ball. She's a luminkinetic, how sweet. Ha, and they think he's a dummy who only thinks with the head in his pants! "Glad to see you two are enjoying yourselves." He handed Lila her tea.
As Lila spoke, Jullian smirked. "Yeah, she takes after her daddy. From what I have experienced most of us don't gain our abilities until our teens. Physicals aside. But as both her parents were mutants... she's had it since she could crawl. Spooked her nanny the first time her mobile was spinning with the ducks and bunnies fighting each other." He laughed and Juliet made a squeel. "Errie silly."
Jullian shook his head. "Not too forward at all." He would address her own mutation later. Certainly not somewhere so public. "I appreciate that you seem to be like minded on the whole thing."
He continued down the road towards a monkey section and took Juliet once more out of her stroller. He held her with one arm in a cradle and used the other offer the monkeys feed. "What can you tell me about yourself Lila?"

Lila smiled and took the monkey feed "There's not too much to tell honestly. I was a Christmas baby, left on the altar at the church with a note because I was a mutant and my parents couldn't have a mutant child. I grew up with the sisters teaching me, because normal school wasn't an option when my mutation manifested. And now here I am having lunch with a very nice and caring father and the sweetest little girl in the world."
She tried to keep it to the basics, but the way she spoke told him there were volumes that she was omitting because of where they were. Still if Julian asked her, Lila would tell him or more likely show him her mutations. She wasn't ashamed of them. They just were difficult to describe for the most part.
Lila held the monkey feed out to the fence, and the little cappucin came over, taking it piece by piece out of her hand. She knealt down to eye level with the monkey, and as she did, her cloak slipped. She looked like a Disney princess, what with the animals coming right up to her now.

Jullian smirked. "Now that admission makes me curious." He said to her comment about being left on the church as a baby because of her mutation. "Even if the power manifests early, its not usually noticed. Even I had to have a toy block telekinetically thrown at my head before I realized Juliet already had her powers... and I expected her to be a mutant." He smirked and cuddled his little princess. "So that makes me wonder about what your powers are."[/color]
He smirked, he had already seen the feathers. They were cute. "If you want to go somewhere more private, or even just more unpopulated, we can discuss our powers there a bit later." He watched Juliet feed one of the monkeys and then shake its hand. He smirked.
"But if not, I am sure we arraign another play date for you and Juliet." He smirked and chuckled. And perhaps a playful date for him and Lila.

"That would be lovely, I do not have anywhere I am supposed to be." Lila agreed, thoroughly charmed now. "Though it will be easier to show you my gifts as opposed to describing them."
She was excited to have made a friend. Especially someone as attractive as Julian was.
"Did you have somewhere specific in mind?"

Jullian smiled to her as she agreed to his offer. "Well then, thank you very much for that. I was going to have a little picnic with Juliet in the park. Would you like to join us? We can pick a nice secluded section of the park." Jullian smiled to her and nodded.
He looked over the bird cage and picked up Juliet, showing her the beautiful white birds. "See the pretty white wings Juliet?" She clapped. "Pwetty!" Jullian smirked and thought that pretty white wings were pretty. He kissed his little girl's cheek.
Jullian turned to Lila and smiled to her. "Have you ever gone flying Lila? Maybe we can later." He floated off the ground a bit and winked to her. "It was the first manifestation of my powers that I developed."
He returned Juliet to her stroller. "One day I will teach you to fly... but not soon. I suspect the terrible twos will be worse if you can fly." He smirked to Lila. He pushed the stroller. "My car is out here, we can pick up the cooler and head off to the distance."

It really was a lovely afternoon, and as the three of them settled in a secluded area of the park, Lila let her cape drop to the grown and extended her wings to stretch them out. She wasn't afraid or embarassed by her mutation, especially with fellow mutants as nice and friendly as Julian and Juliet.
Settling on the ground next to her, Lila watched as Juliet crawled up into her lap. She playfuly lowered one wing around the small girl lovingly and protective.
"To answer your question, I love to fly. It's my favorite thing to do, honestly." Lila said, picking up their earlier conversation. "The other manifestations of my abilities were sooner, I am always generating light, like a mini sun of sorts, I can fire it in blasts, or I can turn into light and heal injuries of others."

Jullian had seen hints of the wings that were under her cape... but he hadn't fully expected how beautiful they made the gorgeous angel girl. She was so innocent-like and cute, but an exotic quality filled all aspects of her nature and made her truly wonderous. He wanted her to know that she was adored.
He watched as his little one crawled into Lila's lap and was cuddled by one of the wings. "Pwetty!" Juliet cooed to Lila and ran her fingers gently over the feathers, Jullian watched her to make sure she didn't start pulling.
"I concur, your wings look beautiful." Jullian smiled sweetly to her. "But the light based powers sound amazing Lila... have you had a chance to explore them?" He asked curiously. He started to pass out some wrapped sandwiches and handed Lila a chicken salad and white american sandwich. "Trade ya, I will feed the little princess."
As Jullian took his little one, she plucked a feather from Lila's wing...
