Jean had called before she headed back to the school. She had been home for the holidays with her family. She also had finally picked up the last things from her apartment hence calling the school beforehand. She had called so Xavier would have someone waiting to help her with her trunk. She was hoping that it would be Scott waiting. Jean had been a bit surprised that Xavier didn’t question her need for help but chalk it up to him preparing the school for the new year and the kids coming back from the holiday. After all, the trunk could easily be lifted with her telekinesis but she was truthfully she was simply looking for excuse to have Scott be alone with her. Scott had been good to make sure they were never alone since she came back to the school at the beginning of the school year. His total professionalism towards her was beginning to irk her so she started to scheme. She was glad she had talked to Xavier over the phone for she doubted that he would approve of her scheming to be alone with Scott. The red head telepath had dressed in hope that Scott would be waiting for her in the garage. She wore her trademark short skirt and go-go boots. She wore a brown fitted sweater with a fox on it and a trench coat. She made sure to look good but not too good. Jean didn’t want to seem like she was trying to look good for Scott. Before leaving her parents’ house she made sure that the necklace he gave her was tuck into her sweater, he didn’t need to know she always wore it. As she turned into the winding driveway of the school in her convertible and got a bit nerves. She quickly reminded herself that she had nothing to be nerves about. She was just coming home and need some help with her luggage. There was nothing to be nervous about at all and besides there was a likelihood that the Professor didn’t even send Scott to help her with her trunk. She honked her horn as she pulled up in front of the garage and see if her little scheme had worked.

Scott was currently at work in the garage and was told by Xavier that Jean would be back soon. It was good, he had her Christmas gift that she left behind when she went home. By accident, he was sure. Still it was important for him to have it for her when she came up the drive.
Scott's car was his red Mustang, his least favorite color but red just looked... faster. He was currently just tweaking the sound system at the edge of the garage. He was wearing a black jacket over a gray turtleneck shirt and black jeans. His hair was straight and neat suggesting that he was at least in a good mood.
Scott watched as the red firebird started to come up the driveway. He smirked and smiled at the sight of her. He cleaned his hands and picked up the gift bag as she honked. "Hey Jean. How you been?" He said with a friendly aloof smile.
He was glad to see Jean and this would be there first chance at being... alone since she returned. She had been ducking him of course.

Jean got out of her car slowly, pleased her scheme seemed to work. She smooth and straighten her skirt. “Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s, Scott.” She said with a smile as she brushed her hair out of her face. Her eyes slid a glance to where he had been working before getting her suitcases out of the car before moving to pop the trunk. “Working hard, I see, a new year but same old Scott.” She stopped herself right there reminding herself that she didn’t want to be alone with him to fight.
She put her hands in her pocket and slowly looked over Scott. “Though, you do look good.” She said softly as she tried not to think how and who he spent with the New Year’s with. For some reason finding out who was Scott’s New Year’s Eve kiss seem like it wouldn’t end well for either of them. Angry fire in the garage just seemed like a bad idea for the whole school.
“The Professor told you that I will need some help with a trunk?” Jean had to make sure she just didn’t catch Scott working in the garage and no third wheel was going to appear. “I finally got around to getting the last of my stuff out of my old apartment. My old room mate has already replaced but the girl seems nice enough.” The redhead shrugged as she was a bit unsure why she felt the need to add that part. Maybe she wanted him to know that she was now fully back and her safety net apartment was gone.
She tilted her head back to look up at Scott as she blew her bang out of her eyes making note that she needed to trim them soon for they were getting a bit long. “And how have the world been treating you, Scott?”

Scott smirked as she said her greetings and repeated them back at her. "You too Jean, how was your folks?" He then continued to smirk as she said 'same old Scott'. Part of him wondered if that meant she still liked him or that he was still too boring for her.
He smirked as she said he looked good. "You look nice Jean, glad to see you were able to get back so soon after the New Year." Scott's thoughts mirrored Jean's; wondering who she was with at New Year's. He had no doubt that she spent Christmas at her parents. And that was fine, he was glad she had them. But he was also pretty sure that she spent New Year's with 'company'.
He shook his head about the trunk. "Nah, just that you were coming in, but I will help you get it to your room." He walked over to the trunk as she spoke about clearing out her old apartment. Two things went through his head... number one she was back for 'good'. Number two, how friendly were they... bad thoughts. He did his best to block them from Jean.
"I will take a bag and one side of the trunk." He smirked to her. "As for the world and life... same old Scott as you said."

“There is no rest for the wicked.” Jean said with a slight smirk as Scott stated he said he was surprised she was already home form the holiday. She wasn’t about to tell him that she missed him and wanted to actually see him before the school got busy and that is why she was home early. She would not give him the satisfaction of knowing she missed him especially when he seemed too totally over her. Despite her need to tease Scott she then added a more truthful reason to her early homecoming. “Besides with my current work load I kind need to get a jump on my lesson plans before my students start noticing I am just throwing random Shakespeare at them while I am writing my paper for school.”
In her head the green eyed monster was running rabid. In her head she was picturing him spending New Year’s with that blonde waitress from Harry’s Hideaway. Part of her wanted to sneak a peak in his head to see if she was right but she didn’t for she was sure if she was right the garage would be on fire. Her smirk turned into a smile.
“My parents are good. My mother told me I need to bring you around more.” She looked away knowing she probably shouldn’t have told him that. She quickly changed the subject. “You remember when I dragged you to my sister wedding?” She asked figuring he would remember one of their last dates together before college. She also told him what her plan for college was that night. “Well, she now expecting.”
Her green eyes shifted back to Scott trying to see his response to her words as she bit the inside of her cheek trying to prevent herself from peaking into his mind to probe his response if there was any. “Seems fair enough, I get one end and you get the other.” Jean said as she moved to pop the trunk and move to take and end of the big red trunk.
“So… Been out to Harry’s Hideaway lately?” She found herself asking even though she knows the answer was going to piss her off. Maybe, later she should have Xavier check her head and make sure she hadn’t gone completely insane.

Scott nodded to Jean's words and noted that she was still in her own schooling. "Do you have to do an internship at some point? Obviously if you do you will have to problem suspend your role as an instructor here... though I doubt the Professor will mind covering that semester with someone while you are gone." He smirked to her, not a mean smirk but a warm smirk. Yes, he paid attention to her.
Scott remembered the wedding well. Sarah had been pretty, the event was warm and friendly with both families there... a bit of his own resentment over his youth coiled in his belly before he killed it. He also remembered the conversation they had that night. "Yeah... that's nice."
Scott's eyes shifted as he hefted the bag and half the trunk and moved to the entryway. He looked to her as she asked her question and considered rolling his eyes. He decided to play with her a bit. "Yeah, I was out there Friday night and then went to Sparkles with some friends." He knew where she was going with that. He was also lying.
He turned to her and smiled to her. "I am glad to see you around here more Jean."

For some reason she felt like she thirteen again and sitting across from Erik playing chess but they were only allowed to move the metal pieces with telekinesis or magnetism. Back then she had a hard time moving small objects and a lot of times by accident the chess pieces went flying at Erik’s head. Erik would of course catch them and tell her if she really wanted to hit him she would have to try harder and go back to the game. This time the game was some sort of mental chess and if her pieces went flying at her opponent she doubt Scott would be as kind as Erik was. This is why she was very careful with her words right now. She didn’t want to hurt him and really didn’t want him to hurt her.
“The Professor has some friends at the hospital in Bayville and he said they are willing to give me internship with a schedule that makes it where I can keep up all my obligations.” The redhead said softly wanted Scott to know she was here to stay, no matter how cold he was to her. She wondered was that why he been avoiding being alone with her for he thought she was just passing through.
Scott response to the news of her being an aunt was hard to read and made her wish to take a peek in his head to see what was going on in there but she reframe for that would be cheating. She smiled and nodded then said softly. “Maybe when she has the baby you can come out.” Even as she said it she doubted that he would take her up on the offer.
Jean bit her tongue as tongue when Scott said he been out with friends. She wanted to know who he was out with for she doubted he was out and bout with Bobby. She was sure that it was a girl. It had to be a girl. Only a girl would ever get him out of the school even just for a night. It drove her crazy that the girl wasn’t her but she smiled and nod as they moved into the school.
“That is nice. I am glad you getting out more.” The thought of Scott finally starting to relax and some other girl being the reason killed her. Some other girl got him to relax and she couldn‘t even get him to go to school with her. “Maybe a group of us can get together and go for coffee or something.” Jean doubted that was actually a good idea for she doubted she was going to like the girl one bit.
“How was the holiday around here? Any trouble or everyone behaved for a change?” She asked decided to once again to change the subject this time away from dangerous topics.

Scott perked up as Jean said that she would be interning at Bayville hospital. He was quite happy with that news, that meant she would be staying around. "That's great Jean, I will be nice to have you around more often and about." He smiled to her and leaned over the trunk to kiss her cheek.
He listened to her speak about her sister and noted some hesitation in her voice but he was in the mood to reward her. "Yeah, that will be nice." He smiled to her and leaned into her.
He watched the dance her mind was doing with news of his New Year's adventures. It was cute to watch. For a girl who had so many bigger and better things to do than... well... him, she was a jealous chick. He smirked as she asked her followup question. "Oh yeah, it was a blast, Trac... it was a good night."
"Yeah things were pretty crazy here. Bobby was conducting some sort of Snowmen war game in the back. When Snowmen go to war... nothing happens." Scott wondered what Jean would think of that idea.

Jean was a bit surprise that Scott seem to decide he wasn’t going to be all business with her anymore. He actually seemed happy with her. It made her think he was worried that she wasn’t going to be pulling her weight around the school. She was going to have step up and prove that she would not be slacking in her duties. She would not disappoint him even though he was no longer interested in something more with her. At least he promised he would go with her to see the baby after all and she knew Scott always kept his promise.
Then Scott gave a name to the girl in Jean’s head. She didn’t remember a waitress named Trac or a Tracy at Harry’s. The telepath assumed that she was a new girl which made things worse for her for she didn’t have a face. With no face her enemy became prettier and more glamorous than her. She was probably blonde, too. Mentally she grumbled as she kept a smile on her face.
“Awesome. Sound really nice. I am happy for you.” She said hoping that she could keep herself in check and not have an explosion of jealousy on Scott as she tighten her grip on her trunk. Despite keeping herself in check she was so going down to Harry’s to check out the new waitress. She told herself it was just because Scott was her friend and not because she was jealous. Jean was being a good friend by checking out the girl that Scott been having fun. This is all.
Jean couldn’t help but throw her head back and laugh over what Bobby had been up to. She shook her head. “I am sorry I missed it. Knowing Bobby I am sure it was amazing and over the top.” Her smile slipped slightly and she sighed a bit as she thought back to the early days of the school. For some reason she didn’t think Bobby got as sad when his snowmen and ice creations started to melt like he did back then and for some reason that made her a bit sad.
She was unsure why she was sad about Bobby no longer emotionally investing himself in things of snow and ice. Maybe it was because it was a sign he had grown up or maybe it was a sign that they all had went and grown up. Part of her wish that they were still young and stupid and not adults but she knew there was no turning back time.
“Did the snowmen war out done the ice mansion he made?” She asked curiously remembering the ice mansion Bobby had made the last winter before she went away for college.

Jean's mind rumbled around with the jealousy he knew she was capable of. He didn't have to read her mind to know that. Even her response spoke volumes. At least it meant that she still cared about him... She just cared more about her career options than him. It was a living.
He wondered if Jean understood why he stayed around here. He doubted it. This was his home, his only home. Whatever would be the Summers family home would be up to him to make. It didn't currently exist. He was the end of the line save his grandfather. If aircraft went further back, he was sure his great- great- grandfather would be a pilot too. A weird surreal image of his own grandson in some futuristic space fighter blipped into his head.
The finally made it past the garage and were headed up the stairs. A tricky process. "It was interesting. The trebuchet... not so much. Neighbors are still complaining about the boulder size snowballs that went wide on the shot." He shook his head. "If you want the show, you can watch it in red filter. I think it has a certain appeal when cast all in red."
"It did the job, I think the mansion was better." They reached her room and he smiled to her. "I have missed you Jean. If you want can we go out for dinner one night?" Feint, delay, attack!

It was awkward maneuvering the large trunk through the mansion and up the stairs but Jean was sure that maneuvering through what ever that was going on between her and Scott was a bit more awkward. She knew she had to choose her words carefully and be delicate on the way she did things. No matter what the angry jealous bird in her head wanted her to do. Though, if she didn’t know better she would think that Scott was trying to feed the angry jealous bird in her head but she knew he didn’t care enough to try and make her jealous.
Jean chuckled at Scott’s response. “If the neighbors aren’t complaining this not Xavier’s or someone is slacking.” The redhead teased him a bit surprised he was still willing to share his memories with her. She wondered if it was a sign that he was totally over her and didn’t care what she may saw. Part of her, the more romantic part, hope the offer meant that he want to reclaimed some of their former closer which she missed. “I would like that. I miss your ruby vision.”
When they made it to her door her eyes shifted to Scott, again, curious if he was going to make an excuse to go back down to garage and get away from her. But he surprised her and said he missed her which made her smirk a bit. Then he asked her out for dinner. “I would like that.” She opened the door to her room. “We always had fun when we went out together.”
She tilted her head to the side and blew her bangs out of her eyes. “I am not going to make Trac or anyone else jealous just because we go out for a bite?” Jean wondered how serious he was about this new girl in his life. Not because she was jealous, just because she was curious.

Scott smiled to Jean as she accepted his offer of a night out. His attack plan seemed to have been successful. Of course, you had to maintain momentum and that was important to Scott. "What kind of meal are you thinking Jean, a nice burger out or something more formal?" He helped her with the trunk into her room and set them up between the dresser and closet so she could do things quickly.
"Would you like some help Jean setting up?" He was more than willing to hang around with her for a bit to see what emerged from her bags. Pictures of new boyfriends... He had to look for clues to his situation with Jean, if things were available still.
She asked about his imaginary girlfriend, he nearly smirked. "Nah, we're just friends, so nobody should be jealous." Who was the 'we' pairing that was 'just friends', he left to her to define.

“Something simple.” Jean shrugged slightly brushing her hair away from her face. “I want to go to someplace local. I have been craving a greasy burger from Harry’s.” She was being truthful on that. During her time away, she really did not find a place that had burgers like Harry’s. It was just a bonus that she would be able to check out Scott’s new girl. It was like the free toy in a Happy Meal.
She was a bit surprise when he offered to help her unpack. Despite her hurry to go home for the holidays Jean thought she had everything straighten out and would not send Scott in the need to tidy. Jean could not help but wonder if he was just looking for excuse to spend time with her but she feared that he was in no way that sentimental for after all he was Scott Summers. Still she wanted him to linger.
“I would like that.” She said softly. The redhead shook her head as picked up her suitcase. “Besides since I upgraded from the girl’s dorm I don’t think you been in my room.”
She liked to think that her staff apartment was a little more adult than her old room. Still she had stuff animals and knick-knacks all over the place. Her bed was covered with a baby blue comforter that matched the curtains. On top of her bed was an oversize stuff yellow duck something Scott won for her on one of their’s first day who sat next to beat up pink teddy bear she had since she was a baby. She took her suitcase and thrown it on to her bed.
She opened up the suitcases revealing some framed pictures and clothes. The pictures were one her whole family from her sister’s wedding. Jean moved to put it up on her dresser with another photo leaving a picture of Scott and her from just before she left for school. The other photo was a photo of the first class when Xavier first opened the school.
“Maybe one night you will return the favor and you invite me to your new room.” She looked over her shoulder at Scott remember that he made it clear what he wanted. “Just as friends of course.”

Scott smiled to Jean as she asked for something simple. Harry's worked out rather nicely, though he suspected Jean would snooping in the waitress's minds for who was his current girlfriend. He wondered would she be amused or annoyed when she didn't find anything. "Sounds great Jean, once everything is put up you can have a few hours to get relaxed and ready then swing by." He smiled to her.
"I have been looking forward to seeing it. Too bad we didn't have such privacy when we were just students here... though the school was more empty than, we always found a corner for ourselves." He let that comment stand to see how she reacted. He looked over her room. It had nice touches between the girl Jean had been and the woman workaholic that she was becoming. He hoped she found a better balance in her life between her career and actually having a life. He let her set up her pictures as he got hangers from the closet and set them on the bed and began dividing her clothes. "Anything you want in general storage?"
He listened to her comment about seeing his room and moved up behind her. He hugged her around the shoulders and kissed her behind the ear. "Yeah I was thinking we could get a pie of your choice from Harry's and come back here with it. My apartment has one of the garden side bay windows, so I have a small dining table there to look out on for breakfast."

Things were going well. Jean was impressed with both Scott and herself. Despite everything that had happen between them they still were very adult and Scott was even being friendly. Still she was a bit worried about Scott’s new girl and the future of her and Scott’s relationship. She was a bit unsure if she could be just friends with Scott. Jean really was not sure she was ready to repaint all her future plans she had in her head that involve Scott because some silly waitress had him wrapped around her finger.
She bet she was a blonde.
Jean smiled and shook her head when Scott brought up their old escapades. “One of the many benefits of being a telepath, Scott, you can easily make people over look you when you have the need to.” She looked over her shoulder and winked at him knowing he knew what ‘needs’ they were seeing to when she had people over look them.
“Still despite my powers they always seemed to find us sooner or later.” The redhead ran her fingers along the picture frame of the first class. “If I didn’t know better I would think it was witch hunt to try and find us in compromising positions.”
She moved back to her suitcase to pick up the picture of her and Scott and put it on her nightstand. She paused a moment looking at the picture. She was smiling in the picture and Scott had a rather stoic look to him. Jean wondered if in when the pictures Scott had already made up his mind and wasn’t going with her when she went to college that she was not worth leaving Westchester for. She wondered would he leave to be with his waitress.
She bet she was dumb as a board.
Jean sighed a bit. “Most of the stuff I had to storage I just shoved into my parents’ attic. I didn’t want waste space that could go to someone that has no other place to put it.” She shrugged slightly and opened her mouth to say more but then he confused her.
Scott hugged her and totally confused her. Then he kissed her behind the ear, he knew full and well what that did to her. She found herself leaning into him and arching her neck to the side for more of attention. It felt like she was in high school again.
Scott didn’t play fair.
Jean forced her swimming thoughts and libido to focus on what he was saying. He spoke of pie, his apartment and breakfast. He wanted to have pie and breakfast with her… He wanted to her to spend the night with her?
But the waitress?
Then again they were adults now and they have history. Adults with their kind of a history spend their time eating pie, sleeping and having breakfast all the time. She wanted pie but she was unsure if that was all she wanted. Jean was also unsure if Scott was just proposing pie or more. The fact he wouldn’t leave with when she left for Empire State made her think he just wanted pie. That also made her wondered if he and the waitress had pie and breakfast. Then she wondered if Scott had lots of pies and breakfasts with other girls.
She suddenly had the urge to torch Westchester and a good deal of a Bayville. Despite her mood to torch the town she did want pie. Her questions and wonderings could easily be answered if she just took on small peek. Her whole being urged her to do it but she respected Scott too much to give into those urges. Jean really didn’t know what to do about her other urges, though.
“Scott? You don’t think it is too late for pie?” She asked as she ran her fingers lightly over his hands. She ran her tongue over her bottom lip as she debated how far she wanted this to go.
