The night sky was dark and blank, the lights of the big city of New York drowned out the distant twinkle of the stars. The moon, pale and silver, was nearly full as it shown down its radiance on the circus grounds. Tonight was the grand opening, the big top was lit from internal lights and as the crowd waited outside, the time for them to enter was heralded by a massive display of fireworks that erupted into the night over the large tent-stadium.
The first few acts were minor displays of 'magic' and animal training done by early members of the camp. Kurt was in the backstage at the moment, watching through his hooded robe the display. It looked to be a good crowd, and Kurt hoped their show would spark some imagination and wonder in these Western eyes. Though they had been successful in England, Kurt worried. In America, there was increasing talk of mutants, and too much of it was of the unfriendly variety.
Kurt shook away his worries. Jimanie's act was coming up and that meant they would be moving into the center of the card. He was the final act. He had to get ready. He also had to make sure that the act after Jimanie was ready. He always wanted to somehow do a fantasy beast menegerie... it was a good start.

The sight of a large lilac cat climbing out of white limo might give some pause but it was everyday thing for anyone from Mass academy. Since the circus came to town, Emma has been getting a few mutant flashes on the radar. Before she did anything about it she sent out her little cat spy to gather information. Catseye enjoyed the job. It was like hunting but instead of for meat, it was information. If she did get something good she would still get meats as a reward making it worth the hunt.
Once the limo drove of the cat went to work. They were many new scents for the cat to take in. Being a city cat Catseye had not experience anything like this before. Well, once she had wandered into the zoo while chasing pigeons but this was not the same. The cat knew the information that Emma wanted would not be with the animals so she went against her natural instinct. Therefore, instead of going to where they kept the animals she went to where the people were.
Catseye slipped into the big top. She kept her eyes and nose open as she did her best not to be notice and keep herself from being stepped on. The two tasks together were sometimes difficult, especially with so many people milling about. While she was avoiding being stepped on the lilac cat, some how manage to get herself into the backstage area that had a lot fewer people milling about.
She was starting to worry that she would not earn her meat reward for she had yet to find anything that Emma would be interested in. She wondered if she should have just gone and hung out with the other animals…

Bran had been taking it easy in the back before he would take the stage as the 2nd to finale act of the night. He drank a bottle of water while standing in the back. He always seemed to get thirsty under the robe he wore. Despite the fact that he didn't wear anything underneath it. Had to be free to move about during showtime. It was about this time he spotted his good friend Kurt standing and watching by the curtain. He gave a whistle to get his fellow showman's attention. "Oy Fuzzy an Blue, don't be getting in me way when I go out, you may close the show, but I'm one tough act to follow.
It was an obvious joke. Bran had said it more than a dozen times to Kurt when he was watching the show, but more so because he didn't want to bowl the little guy over. Bran might not look like much, pasty and white in a robe now, but in his other form he tended to take up a bit more space.
With a grin, he dropped his robe. "Drinkit in ladies.." Bran joked. By now, the crew was all used to Bran's lack of modesty before he shifted. And Shift he did. His skin rippled, rolled, and sprouted thick brown fur. In seconds, standing where Bran had been was a 9'6 kodiak bear.
Break a leg.. came out in a deep growl. And yet it was audible to Kurt. Bran's pretend trainer was making sure his shirt looked a bit tattered and his leash was loose so as not to hurt his partner. The act was a great comedy smash. The trainer would run Bran would chase and then they'd make friends in the center ring and Bran would do some tricks that made the audience go "Awwwwwww." The act culminated with Bran bringing an over sized fake rose to some brave little girl who volunteered. Tonight he'd already picked out a little bald girl ringside. She was in a wheel chair and obviously sick. This act was a great starter for Kurts finale. So he waited till his cue when he would let out a loud Roar and thus start the fun.

Scott Summers and Jean Grey had decided to use the circus for a nice date out. Or a not-date. They were still trying to figure out the details of that one. They had gotten in early so they could have lunch and play in the stalls. Scott had won for Jean a nice cute lavender bunny stuffed animal and had picked up some of the woodcarving panels for himself from one of the shops. He had also, while Jean was getting some treats, managed to pick up a hand silver ring with Jean's birthstone on it. He was going to present it to her after the big show.
Scott was very curious about this Nightcrawler, the stories were interesting but Scott wasn't privy to the aspects of the Cerebro scans. He choose a nice seat on the second set segment's first row for him and Jean, giving them a good view without being floor level. He had taken his woodcarving to the car and let Jean decide what to do with her stuffies.
"So what do you think of the show thus far Jean?" He asked as the magic show was wrapping up. Scott wore a denim jacket and black jeans. His undershirt was white turtleneck.

Jean was unsure if Scott asked her out on a date or not. She was not sure if Scott knew either. Despite the bit of confusion, she was going to enjoy herself but she figured that would not be that hard to do for it was a circus after all. Even Scott should be able to have fun at a circus. Even though she was unsure about the date status of the night, Jean still dressed as if it was date. She wore a short black skirt, white low cut poof sleeve top with a black over corset and red and black leather double belt. To pull the outfit together with a circus theme she wore a red velvet regency style jacket, red fishnets and black knee high ringmaster boots. She knew that she was drawing a lot attention to her breasts but sometimes she believe the only way Scott would notice that she had breasts was to put them on display. She had fun. The carnival atmosphere made everything exciting and fun. She was sure that Scott was even having a good time. It was nice to see him for a change to see him not be all business and for a bit it would seem like they were teenagers again, which made her wondered would she get a kiss at the end night like when they were younger. Since she didn’t know it was a date but decided to dress like it was a date she decide she would paid for the food. So when Scott when and got their seat she went to get the food. Corndog, nachos, a soft pretzel and soda was not something normal in either of Jean and Scott but that was the fun of the circus. Jean, even without her telepathy, could find Scott anywhere. She claimed her seat next to him and kissed him on the cheek as she handed him his box of fatty food. Jean blushed realizing she should not have kissed Scott. She looked away as she settled her bunny between them hoping her just did not notice that she had kissed him. “They really out did themselves. I don’t think I ever seen such a show.” She said softly before looking to him hoping her slip had not made things awkward. “I curious about the Amazing Nightcrawler and his act, they say he is…” She shrugged slightly and smirked. “Amazing.”

Kurt smiled to Bran as he teased. "Get out there you big teddy bear and give a few a hug." He smirked to Bran. Bran had been a great addition to the circus Kurt wanted. Kurt had wanted to bring magic back to the circus and Bran brought in a special kind of magic to the show. His cuddly teddy bear act had proven to be a nice addition to the show.
Kurt was now just hoping the Miral was up for her little bit. He was a bit worried about this but Margali had assured the fuzzy elf that she would make sure that Miral stayed in check. His yellow eyes studied the crowd as Bran performed but his attention was diverted to an intruder.
He turned and face a lilac house cat that had gotten into his backstage. "Vell hello there little one." He ported over to her and picked up the lilac cat. "How did such a beautiful kitten get a such a pretty color?" Kurt suspected that she had been the victim of clothe dye by some cruel prankster kids.

Catseye was a bit surprise when one of the humans turned into a big fuzzy. The change was something the boss lady was looking for and just had to gather more information. She was unsure what the human transformed into but she knew it was not a cat. She thought it might be a giant mouse but was unsure. Before she could investigate the big fuzzy more she was caught.
She was used to being randomly picked up by strangers by now for people at the school does it all the time. Most did not realize she was an actual student at the school and thought she was just the boss lady’s pet. The cat let out a mew and looked up at the person that picked her up. She tilted her head to side when she saw that he was blue, fuzzy and pointed ears.
His appearance made her wonder if he was another mutant cat like her. The thought made her excited for she knew she could not be the only cat that had evolved. Her tail swished excitedly as she purred. Her big lavender eyes watching him closely wondering how she could find out if he was another cat or not without blowing her mission for the boss lady, that would be tricky.
Then an idea came to her. She mewed at him. She figured if he were like her, he would still know the native tongue of the cat and understand what she was mewing about. Catseye was please with herself for being such a smart cat. The boss lady will be please that the school was making her smarter and she would have lot of information to bring back to her.

Bran was in the zone. He was big, furry, and currently rolling over on his back to play dead. He rolled around the room. His partner asked him to be a rug. Bran flattened his body as best he could. The audience got a good laugh at that one. Bran smelled all the food around him in the air. One of the downsides of being a bear, your senses were extremely sharp which meant he was able to pick out all the individual scents in the room (including some kid who needed to be changed)
Bran spotted a pretty redhead with a corndog sitting near the front. He wasn't sure which he was salivating over more, the redhead or the corndog. He felt his foot start to go towards her, but then mentally scolded himself. No! Damn it Bran the show must go on! Ye can hit on the redhead when yer back in man form. Don' switch now, yer a bear, yer a bear, yer a bear....Rawr.
The spot continued without a hitch, stepping on stools, bear hugs, and then finally Bran lumbered his way over to the little sick girl in the wheelchair. Nuzzling her with his snout, Bran dropped the oversized fake rose in her lap. His blue eyes caught that of the redhead and he winked.
Oh yeah, she wants me. he thought as the little girl hugged him and thanked him for the flower. Bran gave her a big bear lick, then bounded back into the ring. He took his bow, and ran off stage. Shifting back into man form, he noticed Kurt with-- what the hell was that? A purple kitten?
Well, it wasn't like Bran hadn't seen stranger things.
He smiled and scratched the purple cat under her chin. "Hello pussy." he said in his thick scottish brogue, sounding very much like Sean Connery.

Mira was still dealing with the surprise that Margali had been ok with her helping make this show even more interesting as she had perched in a shadowy corner, hood up and trying to stay out of the way till she was told to get ready. Though she was also excited too; she never had time to see the circus back home, let alone try to get the kids she'd later saved to get the chance to see one. So this whole experience of being part of an act was new and exciting, though she still strongly hoped Margali was right in her thoughts that she could keep the 'other Mira' on its best behaviour. Not that she had doubted the wise-sounding matronly woman; she just didn't want things to get out of hand.
While she focused on thoughts such as whether Margali could rein in her wild nature, Mira wasn't thinking of anything else. Like for example, how badly she'd be catching 'ell if the Faculty from Xavier's school were in the crowd; though she was knocked out of her thoughts by Bran's shift. Which incurred an unconscious, quiet growl of wariness in the feline type mutant. But she shook that off quick enough before her other side took over, and was only faintly jealous of Bran's obvious control in his other shape. Though she reasoned with herself that Bran clearly was better practiced at his skill. She does mollify her wild side by thinking 'I look cooler than Fuzzy Wuzzy when shape altered at least'.
She had however ignored his commentary to Kurt, that was none of her business after all; besides what boys did in the spirit of competition bored her. On the other...paw, when she noticed the purple kitty in Kurt's arms she scooted closer, and unwittingly voiced a similar thought as Kurt had been thinking previously "poor thing...who would color a poor lil cat like this?". A short span before Bran reappeared Mira had reached out to scritch the lil cat behind the ears gently. Though she stepped to the side when Bran showed up; and she would have stayed silent if not for his greeting, of the cat or herself she was uncertain "you talking to me or the lil kitty there Fuzzy Wuzzy?".
Despite the tone of her voice sounding annoyed Mira had 'ruined' the effect by laughing to show she wasn't upset. In fact; despite not living with this circus crew like Kurt had, she almost felt like she was in the midst of family again. Granted she still liked living at Xaviers more...but whether she would be on the best terms with Scott the stickler for rules after tonight remained to be seen.

Scott snuggled next to Jean as she handed him their 'dinner' for the night. But hey it was a fun night out. Even if it was a non-date... maybe. Scott had hopes that it would be the new 'first date' by the time the morning sun greeted them. And Jean seemed to be begging attention herself, if her outfit was any suggestion. He was more than willing to give her that attention as well. He wondered if she was watching his thoughts. If she was... he hoped he didn't get slapped.
"Thank you Jean." He said taking the food and noting the bunny seated between them after the kiss on the cheek. He promised himself that opportunity granted he would give her a better kiss at the end of the night.
"Well if that's actually a costume, I would say he is very amazing." If its not a costume... they would have to watch that very closely. "The bear act was kind of cool... sweet too." He mentioned and referred to the act that had just closed.

Jean tried to keep her focus on the bear act and not the urge to snoop around Scott’s brain. Her focusing on the bear made it where she picked up Bran’s thoughts. She blinked for a moment wondering if her focusing some how made it where she could read the bear’s thought and then something clicked in her head. He was thinking about hitting on her in human form. He was a mutant!
For some reason the realization that the bear was a mutant made the act more interesting to her. Working with a lot of young ferals with similar mutation Jean was sure that it took great skill to perform without giving into animal instinct. Something about ferals stir a lot of interest in the telepath, she figured it was the primal nature of the power.
She wondered if she and Scott should investigate the mutant later. Jean looked to Scott as a slow knowing smirk spread of across her lips. “The bear act is cooler than you think.” She tilted her head to the side as she brushed her hair from her face and sipped her soda.
For a brief moment she wondered if she should tell Scott or not but soon she gave in to the urge. Jean could never keep anything from Scott. She just hoped Scott didn’t reprimand her for mentally eavesdropping. *The bear not a bear. He is like us. I picked up his thoughts…* Jean told Scott telepathically and then added. *He thought I was hot.*
Her mind and eyes watched Scott for a response, a twitch, a tick or something. Jean didn’t want Scott to go off and punch the bear or anything but she did want some sort of response. She just want a sign that he feelings for her.
“Maybe the Nightcrawler is truly amazing.” She played with her straw for a moment curious if their non-date was going to turn completely business outing. She nibbled on the corndog. *You can’t say, the things we can do are not amazing.*
Maybe she should have gotten a receipt for the food so the school could reimburse her. Knowing Scott, he probably had receipts. For some reason the idea of Foo-Foo (the bunny Scott got her that she decide was name Foo-Foo when she was buying their dinners) being marked off as a business expense made her slightly sad. Still she smiled, as if nothing was wrong, and wonder if she should just count down to Scott going all business on her. ‘Three… Two…’

Lila loved the circus.
Ever since she first sprouted wings, the minute the big top tents went up Lila was inside them. She would fly up early. hide out among the rigging above the center ring, and watch the show.
Tonight was no different. From her perch behind a pile of sandbags, Lila didn't think she needed to bother being invisible. All she had to do was watch.
The big bear bringing the sick girl a rose made her smile, and her luminous blue eyes tear up. She wondered if maybe SHE could do something to help her.
Lila decided to make a point of trying, if not tonight than at least during the week. The sisters had to have an idea of where this girl was being hospitalized-- she was sitting with Sister Mary Lazarus who was in charge of the convent's children's charities.
From above, Lila's eyes fell on a lovely couple. The pretty redhead girl leaned in and whispered in the dark haired red sunglasses wearing boy's ear. Something tugged at Lila's heart then. A part of her wished she was down there with them, surrounded by the happy children. Maybe even holding hands with a boy and smiling at him the way the redhead was. She'd been in love like that before. And it had nearly gotten her killed.
No, it was better for her to hide here, away from the crowds, the men who would hurt her or use her, even the sisters who thought she was an angel but still treated Lila like a little girl.
She recognized him now--- the red glasses man was Mr. Summers-- er Scott from the Xavier's School. He had been nice Lila liked him.
No, she wouldn't intrude on his date. It was better for her to watch from up here than actually be a part of things.
Even if the lonliness ate away at her every day.

Kurt held the mewing kitten in his hands for a bit as he pet her head. He smiled as Bran joined them. "She seems to have vandered in from somewhere. Good vork out there Bran. But I believe they are about to get a much more interesting show curtesy of our guest performer." He tilted his head to Miral.
Miral was also showing the kitten some attention as Kurt watched his stepmother appeared before the crowd. She was dressed in a dress of black that looked to be a hundred scarves that were wrapped around her body. Some of them had in fact come loose and trailed behind her on the grass and dirt of the field where they had pitched their tent.
The dark haired woman smiled to the crowd. "Good evening folks, tonight we have a late addition to our show. Rest assured, you will all get the opportunity to see Nightcrawler's acrobatic show as the closing performance but we have another show for your attention." She smiled. "A bit of old world sorcery." She spread her hands and the glow of purple light emitted out of them.
She gestured to the back stage. "Will my assistent please come forward." She gave a come hither hand gesture with her right hand to Miral.
Kurt smiled to Miral. "You are on elf sis. You will do fine, Mom will take good care of you." He passed the purple kitten to Bran and hugged Miral before she headed out.

Catseye was waiting for the blue cat man to respond when the man that turned into the big fuzzy began to scratch under her chin. Her eyes closed to little content slits and she purred as her tail flicker. The big unknown fuzzy might now be a cat but he sure knew how to pet one.
The cat opened her eyes when someone said something about her color again. She looked down at her paws and then her swishing tail. Both were a lovely shade of lilac as they should be. For a moment she feared she had got paint in her fur like that cat in the television show. She was glad to see no paint for she didn’t want any skunk trying to mate with her. She didn’t want any stinky kittens.
She looked up at the female that had commented on her. The cat tilted her head the side at the sight of a yet another fuzzy; it was enough to make her wonder if circus were just places where fuzzies gathered. Then she wondered why no one ever told her. She mewed at Mira once again testing if some how she was mutant cat like her.
Before Catseye could get an answer to her mewing Kurt pass her to Bran. The cat didn’t like that and thought the blue cat man must have spent too much time around human and not realize that you shouldn’t pass a cat around like a ball. She would forgive him for now but decided she must go out of her way and teach him the proper ways of the cat. She might teach the other fuzzies, too. It would be good for them to be taught who the superior animal was. As she tried to plot a way to teach Kurt the way of their people she purred and padded at Bran.
She looked up at the Big Fuzzy still unsure what he was. She was a city cat and he was the first bear she had ever seen. Catseye doubted he was a cat but still she mewed a greeting to him just in case.

Bran looked over at Mira, whom a moment before he suspected he might've been in trouble with. Then he heard her laugh as he continued to pet the little cat in Kurt's hands. Well its a little of column A, and a tad bit of column B, but canna ya blame a guy for speakin his mind round such lovely distractions............then again this is a cute little cat arent' ya? That was about as far as Bran got before Kurt informed him his act was about to be out shined and then he was handed a cat as Kurt took off and yeah now Bran was holding the purple cat.........or was it mauve fuck it he didn't have time to reason between color schemes. Bran smiled down at the cat when it meowed at him and he continued to scratch behind its ears, also on the side near her whiskers. Bran wasn't exactly gentle as a mouse but he knew how to be delicate when holding something fragile.
He turned his head to the stage behind the curtain and spoke back over his shoulder. Fuzzy Wuzzy?..........oh you gonna regret that one Mrs. Kit Kat, I shall steal all your picnic baskets...........after I take a nap. Bran had no trouble in joking around with Mira, fact was Bran was more at home busting chops and taking his then just sitting around and playing nice. That didn't mean he wouldn't be polite but he liked having fun with people specially the ones he called friend.
